Doflamingo said a lot of shit about how the one who “wins” will become the ultimate power of the new world, but what if the winner doesn’t want power? What if the winner just wants freedom?
Doflamingo is such a well written antagonist in the way that both him and Luffy agree that the world needs to change, and will change. Yet, he and Luffy are polar opposites in the way they view the world. Luffy and Doflamigo could never understand how the other views the world, because of the way that they view the world. Doflamingo can’t understand how someone could disregard their mind and follow only their heart. Luffy can’t understand how someone could disregard their heart and follow only their mind.
I always thought that making Doflamingo and Corazon colors opposite was an amazing choice. Not only for the story telling but also to show there personalities.
- Fpos/cs: Yeah, Nami got it made. She’s come back the Weather Master
- If Oars isn’t dead, then he is dying (for real, not shounen dying). Ace is distraught, Doflamingo continues to have a blast, Moria as of now has his speaking rights revoked, and the three Warlords I care about the most are pretty silent
- (I will continue to dunk on Doflamingo but it’s nice to see SOMEONE is having a good time here, you know?)
- Whitebeard got POWER!!! And he’s mad
- anyway, they keep on fighting
- lol, they cut to some farmer wondering why there’s so many earthquakes today. You know, One Piece world has many perks but at least in real world we don’t cause earthquakes when we fight
- um, what is Doflamingo doing? He’s using his powers but we weren’t told what those are yet. From my observation, it’s probably something like bloodbending, he can control other people’s movements. Yay? Nay?
- Coby? Helmeppo?
- oh right, that makes sense. There’s so many strong guys dunking it out right now, and Coby and Helmeppo are actually pretty weak. But I don’t think marines are nice to deserters/people who hide during the fight, even if they have no chance of success
- What the fuck, Akainu
- Ignoring his horrible life philosophy and advise, shouldn’t he be next to Ace, NOT scaring marine-nobodys? What the hell, Akainu
- (Akainu and Kizaru’s faces are very detailed, more than for other characters I think? I wouldn’t be surprised if Oda based their faces on real people. Something is just different)
- I wouldn’t be surprised if Doflamingo started dancing right there in the middle of the battlefield
- looks like a speech is coming
- “Are the pirates the bad guys? Is the Navy the good guys? Things like that change with the seasons!” this is streaming live, remember
- “Kids who’ve never known peace… and kids who’ve never known war… have completely different ideas of right and wrong!” where did that come from?
- “It’s the job of those on the top to decide what’s good and what’s evil!” …Uncomfortably true but it’s everyone else who decides who’s on top
- “Justice will prevail? Of course it will!”
- “Because the side of Justice… will be whichever side wins!!” holy shit, man
- it feels Wrong but he’s right
- Doflamingo really loves being part of making history… I think reading it real time would be a better experience for me. From the things I saw/heard, the One Piece world after that battle actually didn’t change a lot, if at all
- things are happening again, looks like Navy actually has a plan
- Well? Do it, whatever it is!
- !!!!!!
- EVERYONE SILENT IT’S GARP
- “What are you doing here, Garp? You haven’t had second thoughts, have you?” lol, what if he actually did
- “No. We’re fighting pirates here. There’s no reason to show them any mercy.” …Yeah, ok, I see that. Pirates are free. They’re free to die too if they feel like it. They clearly feel like it here
- “Then…” “Shut up! Just let me sit here!” REBELION
- “Outlaws deserve no mercy…” …
- oh, it hurts
- “…but this is family!”
- “What am I supposed to do?”
- “Old man!” :( :( :(
- this is so fucking sad
- (we see Navy as a bad thing, but it’s not like Garp wanted for Ace and Luffy to become mindless parts of the cruel WG machine, he wanted them safe. From the system if not from the war. But Ace and Luffy didn’t want it. And with WG being all “son should pay for sins of the father”… it just plain wasn’t possible)
- “Just don’t get any funny ideas in your head, Garp, or I’ll dispose of you too.” “Hmph. If I were going to do something, I’d have done it a long time ago!” point. No help coming from that guy, established and understood. I’m not even mad, at least Garp is honest (and Ace continues not wanting/expecting any help, so)
- with Coby
- “Did you hear about the plan, Helmeppo? They’re going to execute Ace ahead of schedule!” I’m kinda surprised they didn’t already tried
As much as I hate Doflamingo his speech is one of the best in all of one piece, because of how well it correlates with the state of our current world. Let’s say you ask a child who has 2 parents and lives in the suburbs of California “what do you want?” And they’ll say something like “I want to be rich or famous.” But if you asked a child let’s say the Middle East who’s in the current war they’ll say “food” “water” “home” “peace” “family” “a ceasefire” because that is all necessities that they need and deserve but aren’t given because of the brutalities that are being inflicted on to them. It shows you how child who have (as doffy said) never known war are able to have silly dreams while children who have never known peace only dream for necessities or for what they once had. Along with the fact that history book where only ever written by the oppressors and never the oppressed. History is built off the back of people suffering and yet we only read and are taught about the part where the white man saves the day and does some great act that “saves” people, when it’s never actually like that. I apologize if this is disrespectful, I’m not sure if it is or not so I’m apologizing here. This is just a thought that’s has been in my head for sometime.
