Superbowl Ads Go to The Dogs
If you watched the Superbowl this year and you’re reading this blog, we’re sure you’ll agree with us that the true winners of the game were the dogs and all of the commercials that starred them! Five bark-worthy ads ran that made us laugh and even feel a little sappy. The five-dog night had us picking our favorites, and we think you’ll agree.
In 5th place, we chose the Bud Light rescue dog ad. While we loved the reference to rescue dogs, the “Here weego” tag that prompted the little pooch to fetch beer for everyone was cute, but we couldn’t help but feel for the little guy working his tail off.
In 4th place we selected the Skechers ad with the tennis-shoe-wearing French Bulldog winning the race. While many activists chose to make an issue of a dog wearing shoes, we (of course!) love dressing our pooches and thought the little one looked adorable.
In 3rd place was the Doritos “Man’s Best Friend” ad. We all know our pups rule the house and this ad just proves how smart they can be. While we train our dogs with treats, it’s the ultimate twist of fate for them to turn the tables. We loved this ad but don’t let your dog get any ideas from it!
In 2nd place, the Volkswagon “Get Fit” dog commercial won our hearts. Determination when you want anything bad enough is how we live our lives, so a dog that would go that extra mile just to whittle down to the size of the doggy door so he could greet his owner, was just too sweet to ignore.
The grand-prize winner was the Volkswagon Star Wars Barking commercial. Let’s hear it for Volkswagon for two amazing dog-related ads. Even if just a ploy to win over my money and attention, there must be something wonderful about a company that believes dogs rule!
Kudos to Volkswagon, Doritos, Skechers and Bud Light! We look forward to seeing your creativity next year! Now, who won the game?
