No unnecessary trash-talking about characters or shows. Generic things like 'kill that guy' are fine; things like 'other character/show is terrible because xyz' are not
No trash-talking of other voters
If I see the word cop that's a strike
Each character gets three strikes. On the third strike, that character will lose the poll
Propaganda:
Javert
"Give a human face to this dog son of a wolf, and it will be Javert."
that guy has reached a critical mass of dog comparisons per sentence
Literally a dog. He's Valjean's dog so that's also gay and we love that. Direct quotes from the book: "Javert, serious, was a watchdog." "When he had so unexpectedly encountered Jean Valjean on the banks of the Seine, there had been in him something of the wolf which regains his grip on his prey, and of the dog who finds his master again." "...to be the watch-dog, and to lick the intruder's hand!"
His entire storyline is that he is the law's faithful hunting dog. His storyline revolves around chasing and hunting down this one man. And when he finally comes face to face with him he forsakes his original master and is torn apart by his loyalty and his sense of justice
Alexis Ness
Another character literally calls him a dog or puppy several times, and treats him like he owns him. He's also extremely loyal and eager to please.
His character is that of a stray dog adopted, given a purpose, and then abandoned, who chooses to not leave despite being set free out of a deep need to be needed. His loyalty is overwhelming to the point he disregards the dismissal and doubles down leaning into the guard dog identity even when it is no longer being pushed onto him. He also gets called puppy and dog multiple times in the manga and just look at his obedient chained up pose in the cover image...

Propaganda:
Éponine Thénardier
Literally acts as a guard dog when her father tries to rob a house. "If you approach, I'll bark. I told you, I'm the dog."
💬 1 🔁 1 ❤️ 7 · ÉPONINE THÉNARDIER MY GODAWFUL SCRAGGLY STREET MONGREL GIRL
submitting her "guard dog" speech in its entirety as propagand
Eddie Diaz
he is like a stray dog carrying his pup around in his mouth going up to doors looking for attention. but when he gets let inside he doesn't think he deserves it so he slinks away and has big sad puppy dog eyes.
eddie "chain of command" diaz loves to obey orders unless ignoring orders will help protect someone. he is obsessed with treats
eddie is so much a guard dog. he's not just all barks he bites too. he also loves to follow orders thanks to the chain of command
The last week of voting will begin tomorrow, on the 18th of May. Polls will last one week.
FINAL: Javert vs Alexis Ness
FOURTH PLACE PLAY-OFF: Éponine Thénardier vs Eddie Diaz (again. It was a fairly close match last time, so who knows …)
On the polls will be included these clarifications of the rules:
No unnecessary trash-talking about characters or shows. Generic things like ‘kill that guy’ are fine; things like ‘other character/show is terrible because xyz’ are not
No trash-talking of other voters
If I see the word cop that’s a strike
Each character gets three strikes. On the third strike, that character will lose the poll
Additionally, starting from when the polls are released, the first person to send an ask — off anon — correctly guessing which character prompted me to start this tournament can send whichever character they like from any stage of this tournament straight to 5th place. (One guess each.)
Why does 5th place matter? Because they will be seeded for DOG CODED CHARACTERS TOURNAMENT 2, happening next spring! Save the date. No date has been decided. Get guessing :)
