My review of the MidWest Steel Pet Gate, 29” in Graphite.
Video caption and product description below:
“So I got these new pet gates, these are the MidWest Steel Pet Gates and as you know I have some incredibly smart dogs that love to open gates as seen by this homemade solution (shows wooden kitchen gate) where we have two locks. So it’s really hard to find a pet gate that my dogs can’t get out of for these back rooms.
What I love about the MidWest gates is that it’s metal which is great, my dogs will chew plastic, and also it’s black so it blends in really nicely when the rooms lights are off which is different than a white metal or plastic pet gate.
It’s got tension on both the top and the bottom and the thing that makes it malamute proof is that you’ve got to pull it back (shows unlocking mechanism on gate) and you’ve also got to lift up and it will go either direction, so if I close the gate it will also go onwards, huge benefit. It’s also spring loaded so it will just (lets gate fall back into a locked position on its own). My dogs can’t paw this out, they can’t push their way out, they can’t figure out the lock, they can’t do anything with it and it’s also a decent height.
Something I really like about these pet gates compared to many other pet gates is that you don’t have the little cat door. Which if you have cats maybe it’s a huge benefit to you, but for those of us with smart dogs it only serves as something for them to grip on to when they’re trying to paw the gate. Something with completely vertical bars is much more difficult for them to catch on to. I just wanted to tell you what I’ve been using. I love these gates and aesthetically they look a lot better.”
