Is your dog a real New Yorker?
Make sure your furry friend has a dog license. It’s the law!
The New York City Health Code requires that dog owners attach a license tag to their dog's collar while in public. Dog owners may be fined for violation of these laws.
A dog license costs $8.50 per year for spayed or neutered dogs or $34 per year for non-spayed or neutered dogs. Dog licenses may be purchased or renewed for one to five years. All dog license fees are non-refundable.
You can apply for a New York City dog license or renew an existing license online. You can also download the application and instructions or call 311 to request to have a paper copy mailed to you.
