Noticing a trend of shitposts about dogs that reveal strange new things about these supposedly familiar beasts. Starting a personal #Dog Lore tag to collect the info we know so far.
i mod the dog into games as my player character if:
A. I have the ability to do so somewhat easily and
B. I make 3 or more characters in a row that I abandon and can’t settle on one without restarting the game yet again, which is increasingly the case whenever there is a game that allows you to make your own character or has modding tools
in the case of Morrowind, I sort of imagine that at one point the dog (Champ) was a pet to some royalty or nobility, and somewhere along the line he ate an extremely expensive magical artifact or soul gem or SOMETHING and the nobles were SO upset about this that they had an extremely publicized and lengthy trial convicting the dog of a slew of increasingly outrageous crimes (partially to distract from their own scandals about to break), and ultimately the dog was thrown into prison to die or await public execution- but as it continued to eat random stuff (whatever the prison would feed it, stray rats, etc), it became apparent that the artifact it ate cause some sort of magical fuckery in it, altering it’s soul or something, and this phenomenon kept advancing by absorbing the latent magical energy in the random junk it’d eat, to the point where it was capable of all kinds of strange magical feats eventually gaining near human level sentience, and the emperor was just like “Fuck it send the dog to vvardenfell” partially out of pity/bemusement but also to set an example against the absurd politics that put it there in the first place. as the dog continues to munch on random flowers and mushrooms and meats/what have you/ it slowly grows in power until reaching near godhood
