WIDOW’S BAY S01E10 - We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time!
Kate O'Flynn as Patricia Moyer in WIDOW'S BAY (2026—)
Widow's Bay 1.10 "We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time!"
I told my little nephew that I'd wave at his airplane when it flew over my house today, and he very calmly and politely explained that it wouldn't be possible to see me due to the limitations of human vision. I said he just had to squint real hard, and he took a deep breath and went into the toddler version of "see, what you're not understanding–"
I don’t think enough angsty fics ab one of the lil twins dying in Weirdmaggedon capitalize on the angst factor of it being Stan and Ford’s fault. Like, not even in a way that is really up for debate. All they had to do was put aside their differences and hold hands for a brief moment, and whichever nibling it was would still be alive. They were supposed to be the adults, they knew what was at sake, but they projected their shit all over those kids and prioritized their petty 40-year-old high school drama over protecting the children in their care. They come to their senses just in the nick of time in canon, but if they hadn’t, the surviving twin would not be on speaking terms with them, especially if it was Dipper
Guys… blowout argument where everything comes to ahead and Stan in the heat of the moment tells whichever twin survived to leave and not come back. Is immediately sick with regret and drives around all night looking for them
So it turns out I have a medical condition that requires surgery so the money my mom lent me is going towards that instead of schooling so I don’t have to rely on my parents anymore and can actually do something with my life. Hopes and dreams crushed. Feeling disgusting and unattractive and like a huge burden on everyone in my life. Whatever
I can always post worse
i bet girls hated it in 1902 cuz you would constantly go on dates w guys who are working on an invention to present at the world fair
the year is 2035. the new beauty standard is for women to cut their ears off, as ears are a masculine trait which make the face look too big and hearing isnt necessary as it doesnt align with being demure. evil feminists say perhaps this is unnecessary and ears are natural. women are agressively proclaiming they are cutting their ears off due to sensory issues

I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person
BUT
a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."
#such a good summation of this actually#because yeah there’s usually things that were always present#but which were easy to overlook or give the benefit of the doubt#that suddenly become relevant after a revelation about the creator#and it’s really not the same thing as the self-defensive “’I never liked it anyway’

I've seen a couple of posts/videos of people calling Obsession "mean-spirited" and I don't really get it? Like, it's both a horror movie and a tragedy, but you are meant to find it horrifying and tragic. "Mean-spirited", to me, would be a movie that portrayed Nikki as just a scary movie monster and ended with a smirk and a wink, which is definitely the tone a lot of movies of this type take. But Obsession's sympathy remained squarely with Nikki the entire time, and the whole point was that what Bear did to her was monstrous and completely unfair. You are supposed to feel sorrow and outrage at how this innocent woman's life was destroyed by a disgusting, cowardly rapist. It's only "mean" in that yeah, ofc I was holding out hope that she would somehow make it out okay. But the point is that she doesn't, because that's how it is sometimes. The message would be lost if she did. It's bleak, it's tragic, it's horrific, but that's not the same thing as "mean." Like - are Shakespearean tragedies "mean-spirited?"
