Day 19 - Kangal

At some point I'm going to make a proper painting out of one of the refs of this dog, because he's STUNNING and all of his pictures just look awesome 🤩 Anyway, this took around 3 hours or so.

Can't neglect the dog sketches forever, so here's

Day 17 - Norwegian Lundehund

This felt pretty tricky (these dogs are SO unique) and I was actually dreading it a little bit which may be the reason I procrastinated on it 😅 but surprisingly, it still only took 2.5 hours in the end.

Day 30 - Basenji

This is a puppy I met at a dog show, he and his owner were awesome. I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but hopefully I have it written down somewhere 😅 I chose this particular reference pic not only because of the beautiful pose and expression but also because the dog was black and you don't see the breed in black all that often compared to the red ones. Also I'm just a sucker for black/ black and white animals haha.

Day 31 - Portuguese Water Dog

This was really fun, I didn't think it would go as well at first haha. Added the little stars at the end because he's looking up so intently. A little stargazer! 😄✨🤩

But wow, now the whole thing is FINISHED!! Granted it took me a whole year when others do it in just 4 weeks, but I honestly don't care 😂 I finished it, learned a ton while doing it, and I'm extremely happy with the results overall. YAY!!

Day 25 - Kromfohrländer

This is actually a dog that lives/ used to live near my old dog walking routes. She's an amazing dog, very chill, well behaved and not very interested in other dogs, which made her one of the VERY rare dogs I never minded meeting when I was out with Bats. I love her 🧡 And the reference for this is one of the best dog photos I ever took... so much presence!

Day 18 - Šarplaninac

I'm so out of practice with these that this took like 4 hours or so XD but I guess I'll get back into things if I keep it up a bit better again. And I really didn't dig this one while I was doing it, but now that it's finished I find it pretty okay!

Day 22 - Japanese Akita

Ok this took waaaaay too long (basically most of the day, although with several long breaks due to household things and stuff), but I still haven't figured out yet how to effectively simplify brindle on a fluffy coat and make it look good at the same time XD or maybe I was just too out of practice. Maybe one day :D Right now I'm pretty happy with this, though.

Day 23 - Dobermann

Dare I say it...? This felt so easy compared to the recent couple of sketches 😅 Not sure about the time, but I was surprised about it when I glanced at the clock when I was about to finish. And at first I thought the reference could be a bit bland, but it turns out this is quite an effective portrait (if I may say so myself). At the very least, I like it a lot 😃 I'll probably turn this into a properly detailed painting at some point.

I'll have to check about the dog itself, off the top of my head I can't remember if this was the incredibly well trained and presented one or the one where both dog and handler seemed a bit overwhelmed. Even the judge commented on both ^^; but other than that both dogs were beautiful and I have refs of both, so I'll edit once I've checked. Edit: it was actually NEITHER of the two but a third dog that I don't really have much recollection of XD
