Since prehistory, dogs have served as man's best friend, giving us loyalty, assistance and boundless inspiration.
Dogs offer comfort and amusement to their owners; they provide solace when we're sad, entertaining antics when we're bored and affection every day. To poets in particular, these beloved creatures are the most bountiful muses, as they bark, yip, hunt, fetch, growl and slumber, reflecting back at us our most heartfelt tenderness and often rewarding us with unconditional love we scarcely deserve.
Dog Poems offers a litter of verses in celebration of our most faithful companions by some of the greatest poets of all time.
Out on National Poetry Day (03/10/19).
Incase you have an Admin in your life it's #administrativeprofessionalsday and you should thank all of the administrative staff/ friends in your life for doing all of other tasks that kind of, well no one volunteers for. But also helping everything move along a little easier. ❤️ So to my fellow admins thank you! To say I haven't been doing this in some capacity or another would be a lie. But, I have had almost a year or working with a company that has brought so many new opportunities for me, as well as friends. It's weird how fate works. Even though my time there is temporary I will cherish all that the opportunity has brought into my life. With less than a month left, it will be sad to know I won't be around to help out. But I know better things are ahead for everyone. So to the best group an admin could ask for. Thank you got the gifts, and the wonderful card. You guys truly made me feel appreciated today. #worklife #wellitsnotapuppy #dogpoems #giftsofappreciation #awesomecoworkers #thankyou #danke #smurfsneverlie #pselife #pse #aerotek https://www.instagram.com/p/BwqCbNeFF8zCvaZoSo1uZLRuJ6qCQG1S9tJ9140/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=149omhbwpnzt5

You're the only human I knew and loved Yeah I recognized your family.. Your friends only cause I saw that you Loved them just like you loved me You fed me and sometimes I'd do bad things.. But I knew what bad things were.. I watched from a far as you slowly became.. What I've never seen before.. The light behind the eyes I once saw playing With me was.. Gone I tried to speak up when guest came.. I ran back and fourth trying to show the bruises on your back The marks they left on you.. All I got was a slap in the behind and time out.. I tried human.. I tried.. I sniffed out those pills laid on the floor I tried to get you down from that rope.. Now.. I sit by your coffin as they pray for you.. I tried so hard because you.. You beautiful human.. Were all that I had…
A dog.
"Dethroning Cinderella"
I don't need glass slippers, or a ball gown, or a Prince Charming to "live happily ever after."
I'm going to "live happily ever after" because I choose to live that way. Prince Charming and fragile slippers are just pretty things. And pretty things are just that. Pretty. Things. Dead objects.
Cinderella is overrated.
True happiness comes from the heart.
