Conquering Ellinor

2 years ago I had attempted Mt. Ellinor and I made it almost half way before my body and my pups would want to give up and turn back. And today I can proudly say that I conquered that peak. This not only validated my skills as a hiker but it would also renew a confidence I have in achieving my goal to conquer Mt. Constance

Yakima River -Roza WA Decided to work abroad on Friday and found myself some nice spots with reception and fishing access. It was nice to not be cooped up in my shed and out exploring for a change. This weekend we worked on fishing, more specifically fly fishing. And I tried to channel my aunt Laura and feel had the river not swelled I May had broken my no fish streak. .

Last night on the lake with the warm air and beautiful night sky was the perfect scenery and I did something I never thought I'd even attempt and that was standing on my kayak. The difference a year can make. ❤️ When I started trying to bring Petrie back to my life I was constantly afraid of all the horror stories I had heard in my previous occupation. Now she walks in whenever, and is now socializing with everyone from a distance (she is after all somewhat feral. ) In my family animal rehabilitation has been our main goal. Everything from racoons to owls to squirrels and even occasionally when the llamas would take in deer. While Petrie wasn't a completely feral cat, and knows me very well she still had some trust barriers. I am so incredibly thankful for everyone who put up with my whining through this. While measuring time is better with seasons, this was the date we narrowed down as the start of our story. 3 years, it seems like it went so fast and has been filled with so many new places and adventures and experiences. And I am so happy to have all of them with you, love. As we are half way through the winter and approaching spring I am looking forward to planning more trips and seeing where life takes us next. ❤️ If I can give any dating advice for anyone, find someone who pushes you to believe in yourself. Who makes time to share in the experiences you want and whom you can do the same. Don't aim for the 'perfection' that we often see on social media. Just aim for happiness, and laughter and growth. Find someone who you can grow with, who pushes you to become the very best version of you and who accepts you in that transformation. I am also thankful for moments like this, I very easily grabbed Petrie up and had her inside with us for a little while, we gave her food and water and I put out my soft blankets on all of the places she might try to claw up in spite. But, I also captured her doing something she has done since she was the littlest floof in my life. 😻 Petrie is a sucker for soft fleece, she suckles and makes biscuits. Those are the moments I know she is super pleased with herself. I may not be the best cat mom, but I certainly try my damnedest to give her the best life I can. Trying to take a new outlook on life, I expect my body to do things at the level of the average person. This is simply not the case of what I have to endure and go through. This is in spite of the what feels like piles of medications and supplements that I take to move and operate in the realm of 'normal'. I am thankful that my body processes it all correctly, that we finally found what works to keep my inflammation down for the most part. I am thankful for the good days and the bad. Walked across the Tacoma narrows bridge, I've driven across it many times but never walked it. My grandfather walked across the other older bridge when it was first opened for public use. Painsomnia allows my mind to wander onto photos I take but never share. Like this for example, Petrie and I have been rebuilding our relationship with one another. So far I've had her come to me every day for food for over a month now. She's gaining weight back that I was worried wouldn't happen, and I even get to pet her. It's lightening and thunder out there, so I put together a bed out of a crate with no door, just something she can go to. I never thought I'd have this progress and she hunts small field mice and presents her trophies. Crazy how life goes, 2 years ago I lived 3,000 miles away from where I am now. Did I ever think I'd come back, no. But when I arrived I knew this was where I grew into who I am. And I will continue to. I'm making great strides with some of my goals and others have taken a back burner. I started working with animals again. I want to find some volunteer opportunities to work with animals more. I have made a plan for school, and I finally have health insurance. Meet my new Doctor next week, I was doing exactly what I'm doing now. Different place, and a different path. Which one was better? It's hard to say, they each had so much to give. And while I would love another shot at adventuring the east coast again.
