Fluffy ask time: What's your softest headcanon that you don't think is particularly common in fandom? Can be reylo, but doesn't have to be.
That Kylo and Rey will for once start to sleep comfortably because for once they no longer feel lonely thanks to their bond and even if it’s cold comfort cause they’re not the best of besties right now, having someone there abates the loneliness so they’re no longer desperate.
Are there any GOT female characters that the fandom generally doesn't like, but you do (or vice versa - that the fandom really likes, but you aren't as enamoured with)?
I think I have a few that fit that bill. One of the things that has saved me from getting disillusioned with the fandom is that I don’t follow a lot of fandom-centric blogs, which is WONDERFUL because it means I don’t get a lot of the drama that I know is happening in the main fandom.
That being said, I think a character that I love that a lot of people love to hate is Sansa. I just...really like her. I think she’s complex and has such amazing growth, especially in the books, and she’s smart and caring and I think her story gets overshadowed a lot by Arya’s, which is a shame, because it isn’t a competition between two vastly different girls, it’s just diverging paths that I think are both interesting.
My love of Elia Martell and Dorne in general is well-known, and I suppose Elia is someone that people find controversial in a way I don’t quite get, so I guess she counts.
There are two characters the fandom likes that I’m “meh” about. That isn’t to say that I don’t like them or that I think they’re bad characters, just that I’m not in love with them.
First up is Arya, and only really because I find a lot of her parts in the books to be boring. Like, nothing wrong with Arya herself I just had to slog through her parts because they weren’t gripping to me which is a shame because honestly her trajectory is so interesting and her storyline should be one of the most intriguing Martin somehow made training to be an epic assassin boring. I hope that changes in the next book. I also felt like in the show and book they really pushed the “not like other girls” trope a bit much.
Next up is Dany. I started the books really loving her, and then in the last book she just became kind of...whiny. I’m hoping that’s going to change because I always looked forward to her chapters and want that to continue. In the TV show I can honestly say that she’s been ruined for me. I don’t like how they’ve taken her character at all and I really hope that isn’t a sign of how she’s going to be in the books because that would make me sad. She has so much potential, I’d hate to see that be wasted. Plus she’s got DRAGONS. I mean, please let her be more badass.
Those are the big ones that come to mind. There are a lot of characters I enjoy simply because they’re complex and well written that a lot of the fandoms dislikes because of their motives (which makes perfect sense) I just think a lot of the fandom needs to remember there’s a difference between a good character (well written, complex, with motives and emotions) and a good character (morally just) and you can like one without it being both things.
doing-talking replied to your post: so since tumblr links are basically dead at the...
wait WHAT is happening? do they just not let you attach links or do the links go nowhere?
so apparently its a glitch that has to do with posts with links in it not showing up in the search engine. so the links work, they just don’t allow the post to be searchable/seen. its working/not working for some people so it’s non consistent
Her first act as Empress is to call off the attack on the Resistance. She whispers promises to her Emperor that the battle will come again; they simply have to trust one another.
General Armitage Hux, down an ally in the mysterious Phasma, slaps her across the face with the back of his hand in the ship’s hangar.
“Desert rat,” he spits. “If I’d known all it took to have Ren on a leash was to have a girl open her legs, I’d have sent him to a house long ago.”
