Hey look it's my schizophrenic paint gun-slinging magical girl oc, Yuuka Miyahara!

I saw this image while doomscrolling on Pinterest and my immediate thought was "I need to draw her in this shirt because it is literally her in a nutshell."

She's meant to be part of an anime, but my drawing tablet bit the dust while recording this speedpaint so that's gonna have to wait o7

In better news I've found I really enjoy sketching my art traditionally first, then coloring it in. Still not sure what to do about lineart yet, though.

Decoblog-esque Style Part 2

Ok, so I've been fricking around with trying to Gekidan Inu Curry-ify my digital artstyle, and these are the notes I've come up with so far. Done in Clip Studio Paint EX, btw.

Generally speaking, if you're doing this digitally, get as many textured brushes and image textures as you can. You see one that sparks joy? Get it! One of my favorite brush packs I found was a newspaper brush which I am definitely using the heck out of in the future.

Speaking of animation, the pipeline I've conjured so far needs work (shout out to Spywi's Mind Palace on YouTube for teaching me about the anime pipeline in this video), but as of right now it goes as follows:

If it doesn't move, you can make a mask. If it moves, you sadly need to animate it in its own separate folder so you can properly clip the texture to the layer. :(

Also, mix and match with collaging, especially if you want to go for a more Madoka Magica look, which is kind of what I'm going for.

P.S. For some reason my main monitor keeps desaturating the colors and I hate it but don't know what to do or if it even needs fixing

As promised, here is a better artpiece of Malolila, and this time you can see her real smile a little underneath the fake one! I played around a little more with textured brushes to give her a more inhuman, other-worldly, Madoka Magica-esque feel, and while I think I did pretty good, I still have a long way to go.

Been trying to develop my digital art style recently, been inspired by Gekidan Inu Curry, and tried to do some studies. They absolutely did not turn out that similar to 2shiroinu or Doroinu, but the foundation is there.

The first study was of my weirdcore/dreamcore OC, Endri, who is a god of dreams and also a Reaper. His story is that he lost his wings and face to a sun goddess, and then had a (more or less valid) crashout stealing them back. I absolutely wanted to draw him in a GIC adjacent style because the trippy vibes absolutely match his role in my world's pantheon.

Also he does have a complete set of wings, the other half just aren't shown here because this was traced from a concept sketch I did of him and I didn't have room for the other pair of wings (and was too lazy to draw them in CSP).

Then I tried to make my own PMMM witch-looking character with some digital collaging, though I think she'd fit better in Joel G's ENA. I've simply named her "The Fortune Teller". The images used in making her were yoinked from Pinterest, and the textures and patterns I used were found on CSP.

This last one, I wanted to try and mimic the swirly/target eyes I noticed in Doroinu's artstyle (think Charlotte or the Clara dolls, to use another PMMM reference). The character used is Dhvamma, embodiment of death and Endri's adoptive father. I think I like the swirl eyes for Dhvamma and will implement them into his design.

So I was driving to school a couple days ago (I can finally legally drive, yaya) and I saw this bumper sticker on the back of a car that said "STUDENT DRIVER" in big letters, and below that, in slightly smaller letters read, "and parent panicking" and I was like "gosh I wish I'd had that when I was learning how to drive" and "I should get a picture" and reached for my phone -- while stopped at a light, mind you -- but then thought, "wait a minute. I'm an artist. People love artist's renditions."

Therefore, I present to you my artist's rendition of that frickin' bumper sticker:

It looks bad 'cuz I doodled it on the way (again, while stopped at lights, of course.)

Fields of Gold

If you go into the fields at sunset, you can hear the breeze brush through the grass, and the crickets chirp between each stalk. If you're quiet enough, the fields will whisper secrets of the universe.

And another Nokia post! The autism really has me in a chokehold with him, I swear.

I've been trying to fiddle with my art style to get it the way I want, and I've decided that I should just suck it up and put the ambient shading over my line art instead of just letting it stay purple, even though I'd like to stay that bright purple all the time. It just doesn't look good to me.

I'm also trying to figure out how to draw hair, especially Nokia's, since he has very wild, choppy hair. His ponytail looks pretty wack in this picture -- probably should have tried to make the strands follow the wind a little better -- but I'll keep going.

Natsu

If you're visiting Yumeyama Island, and stumble across a shrine in Kinnyo Forest, you might just meet a young blind miko working with the komainu there, known as Natsu Masashige. A quiet, reserved soul who lost her eyes some time ago, but that does not mean she is defenseless. She has ways of seeing things no one else would, and thus keeping the demons of the island in check, so keep an eye out for a small crocheted doll or two running around the island.

Say hello to Nokia's older cousin, Natsu! A native on the island that helps run a shrine that is home to many komainu (japanese lion dogs) who are trained to guard shrines, and, in more modern times, as service dogs. Natsu even has a komainu guide dog (guide komainu?) of her own, named Poppet, who also serves as her shiki, or familiar. And yes, Poppet is a very good girl.

Despite being blind, Natsu is skilled with magic, using her magic and her crochet skills to create enchanted dolls that can scout ahead and help her see, like fuzzy, mobile security cameras. And she has also enlisted the help of a spirit born from an old, tattered scarf, named Mawari, who can temporarily offer his sight to Natsu when she needs to see for a battle.

Natsu is a very kind girl, and despite being more introverted than her younger cousin, she knows how to stand up for herself, and how to kick butt even with her disability.

I'm planning to make character refs for her and Nokia soon, alongside introducing some other characters from Tales of Yumeyama.
