“First” Official Post. Forsaken Launch Trailer breakdown/summary & thoughts
Bungie has had an infamous background when it comes to disappointing fans, but it seems almost like clockwork with the release of the year two expansion/update. They always get their community hyped and ready for the game, its almost like they redeem themselves as seen from destiny ones Taken King year two expansion. Ever since a month or so after release Destiny two has always seemed to be lacking in something. Maybe it was content taken away from the first game that players had to wait months to finally achieve or a boring story, lacking development of your character and the others around. It is definitely safe to say though that Bungie redeeming themselves with the year two expansion is almost inevitable. Ever since the announcement of them killing off an important character fans have been dying to get their hands on this dlc. The first trailer riled the community up but the second was arguably a masterpiece (when it comes to gaming trailers at least).
It starts off with our beloved vanguard hunter rep Cayde-6 fighting off hoards of Fallen as they constantly run at him. Then it cuts to Zavala and Ikora (the titan and warlock vanguard reps) walking around a corpse with a white and gold piece of cloth covering it (which is assumed to be Cayde-6). Ikora then says she is sorry and it cuts to Cayde-6 on his back while a cloaked figure (Prince Uldren) walks around him slowly aiming a gun towards his body.
It then cuts back to Ikora and Zavala, then slowly shows the guardian (your created character you play as throughout the game who in this trailer is portrayed to be a male titan). It than shows Cayde on the ground at gunpoint with Uldren saying the very cliche line “any last words”, with Cayde then replying with “Hows your sister?” a harsh but fair blow referencing the battle against the hive and taken that the awoken had lost to, leading to the death of the queen (his sister) and a large portion of the awoken population.
Uldren then closes his eyes and we hear a clear and sad gunshot leading to Cayde’s death. It cuts back to Our guardian (us), Ikora, and Zavala saying their final goodbyes before declaring war on Uldren. As this goes on we see Uldren and the things hes been up to. Which basically consists of him wreaking havoc in the reef and other various locations. Then, its heard Zavala saying how we aren’t an army, or conquerors. Then we hear Ikora interrupt and say it is for Cayde. She then says it is cowardess to just sit back and do nothing. Zavala joins Ikora and her idea of fighting by saying “I refuse to bury anymore friends”. Now this is the insane part. Our guardian who has stayed muted for the entirety of the first and so far second game broke his vow to stay quiet and says to Zavala “you wont have to, Uldren is mine”. The vanguard then basically calls for every Titan, Hunter, and Warlock to unleash hell on the reef, as it starts to show game play.
Now I personally believe that Bungie has redeemed themselves or at least will with the release of the Forsaken expansion. Sure you could say that I am being pretty generous or optimistic but we saw the same thing with Destiny 1 and the Taken King expansion. I am personally excited and I know many in the community are as well. Bungie may disappoint but it definitely worth a chance. Especially considering the pre-update for the Forsaken is practically twice the size than that of The Taken King. So we are definitely getting our moneys worth. Not only that but I cant wait to avenge Cayde-6 and kill all those who helped Uldren kill him. Happy Hunting Guardians and thank you for taking the time to read this.
