It wasn’t unheard of for gym leaders to be contracted by other leagues for small side jobs. Most of the time they were simple, usually educational in manner, or consultation jobs on protects in the works based off of the visitors respective region. Maylene had been called to various regions for odd jobs, but never something like this.
Whatever the pokemon was that was giving these people trouble was angry, and it wasn’t going to calm down anytime soon. People were rightfully worried.
Following the pokemon’s path of destruction wasn’t a difficult task, trees were either ripped in half or completely uprooted. There were what looked like large footprints in the ground, but the rain from the previous night had washed them mostly away. Needless to say she was getting frustrated. But when the frustration bubbled over and she kicked a branch out of her way, she was met with shock.
She almost jerked back, but instead fell to her knees. Putting a hand on the side of the person’s face, she gently shook their shoulder, worry furrowing her eyebrows. “H-Hey! Hey wake up! Are you alright? Do you need help?”
It appears she definetely underestimated the the wild pokemon that was causing destruction, the gym leader was in bad conditions- luckily there wasn’t any sign of a deep wound or any broken limbs.
The woman replied in her fake masculine voice, the eyes opened once she heard Maylene’s voice. The blond would try to sit up- anything in an attempt to get away from the other gym leader’s touch.
“...Are you...Maylene? Did the League send you here...? I managed to scare the pokemon away from the city but...Ha...”
Morty said- taking a break as she let out a pained wince. The pain finally caught up to her.
