A warmup dooble before doing some other art. Figured I’d give Dokuta another draw before he goes back in the box for another 3+ years. Used him for practice at tricky hand positions and tricky arm foreshortening. Also I don’t think I’ve literally ever drawn him shirtless. I don’t think I ever envisioned the lizard half extending all the way down, a completely even split. It’s mostly just the arm, I think in early sketches he didn’t even have it on his face.
The original concept was that he was born with a lizard arm, but as he got older it started encroaching on the rest of him. But he’s kept that a secret, because he can hold it back with magic. The result being everyone thinks he can’t use magic, because he’s using all of it to keep himself at ~20% lizard. He’s not completely sure what he’d look like if he unclenched now, but he’s afraid that he wouldn’t be able to put it back if he did.
OH also, this condition is completely ‘natural’ for him, his mom is full scalie and his dad is full elf. His form is unstable because in this setting, all the weird races are the result of generations of nuclear radiation, so hybrids tend to be unstable. He’s the only one of his kind because generally everyone else is too scared of the lizard people to procreate with them. His real curse isn’t having a lizard arm, it’s having a pervert dad.
