Penya Investigations - via On the Corner records, Artwork by Victoria Topping

Penya’s recent collaboration with On the corner records resulted in the “Penya Investigations” cassette.

We featured the vocals of Lilli Elina and drew on Jim le M’s Afro-Cuban bata knowledge. Magnus PI produced the music via his north african excursions, resulting in “Search it out” - a track described by Dom Servini as “the spiritual Samba I’ve been waiting for” and by both Red Snapper and Tom Robinson’s Fresh on the net as “percussive genius”

The release also presented  a collaboration with Indian wizard “Daisho”

The cassette was featured on Bandcamp weekly in April, and has received radio play from Tom Ravenscroft on BBC 6 music, Nick Luscombe on BBC radio 3, and has been featured by DJ Khalab, Amazing radio, and a host of other radio and blog sites.

Here, we humbly present a new blog where we continue to investigate our roots in the spirit of this cassette ….. soon up will be news of international Penya investigations with DJ Khalab (Italy), DJ Jose Marquez (Los Angeles), gigs with Bustin Loose,  plus Jim le M’s personal investigations of Peruvian folklore.
