I just read a Dom/Brian fic, post first movie, in which Brian is still a cop but he moves into the Toretto house and they're all like his family and he and Dom are together and the crew sets up a police scanner so they can listen to Brian and how his day is going.
Anyway, it got me thinking about an idea for an AU fic. Like, the crew obviously has a scanner set up in the garage and when they're racing and they know pretty much all the cops by name thanks to the scanner. Then a new guy transfers from Barstow and he's sarcastic and funny and Dom tries really hard not to fall for this cop he listens to on the scanner everyday. But then something happens and they end up meeting in person and Dom is totally fucked cause this guy is gorgeous, all blonde hair blue eyes and mega watt smile, and oh shit, he's in to cars too. And once Brian leaves, the crew tease Dom, but he doesn't care, just takes to listening to the scanner more closely, listening for Brian's voice. But then Brian shows up one weekend at the shop with his car, and really, it's so downhill for Dom at that point. It all comes to a head when they hear that Brian was shot on duty and Dom races to the hospital, heart in his throat, only to find that the bullet just grazed Brian and he only needed a few stitches. Of course, Brian is extremely surprised, but not unhappy, to see Dom at the hospital. Dom reluctantly tells Brian about the scanner, that he fell for him before he even saw him, that he was worried sick when he heard Brian was shot. And Brian just smiles that huge smile and hulls Dom in for a kiss. After that, the crew don't stop listening to the scanner and Brian does his best to make it worth their while.
