Her name is Jessica Strider and she has you two wrapped around her pretty nimble fingers.
“Dad!” She called. Of course John is the first to respond, peeking over the edge of the second floor railing.
“Yes?” He calls. She smiles up at him and he knows. She has something she wants, and he knows she’s not gonna have trouble in getting it from him.
“I was just wondering…” She trailed off innocently. John sighed and rubbed the temples of his head.
“What is it sweetheart?” He asked. She laughed.
“Oh alright, well so I have this boyfriend.” She stopped and leaned back on the heels of her feet. John raised an eyebrow curiously.
“Oh?” He asked. She nodded.
“And well….I want you two to meet him!” She smiled at him hesitantly and John laughed.
“Well of course, but, does he know about me and your father?” He asked. She nodded.
“Of course, and he really doesn’t care so that’s a plus!” John leaned back lightly in consideration and sighed.
“What did your asshole of a father say?” He asked. She laughed and shook her head.
“He said to come ask you.” She smirked. John chuckled.
“Of course….” He paused, hesitating. “Oh alright, I don’t think it will be any trouble to have him over for dinner one time.” He sighed in wary consent.
“Yes! Thanks dad, I need to go text him!” And with that she disappeared down the hall into her room. John smiled and made his way back into his bedroom.
“You knew I’d say yes you ass.” He sighed. Dave glanced up from some paperwork he had splayed everywhere.
“Hm? I have no clue what you’re talking about babe.” He chuckled. John rolled his eyes and slowly crawled into the bed, snatching his shades with a laugh and slipping them on.
“Am I a cool Strider now?” He asked teasingly. Now it was Dave’s turn to scoff and roll his eyes.
“No, the most dorky Strider in existence, it should be against the law.” John laughed. “Oh damn honey run for cover cause the coppers are coming for ya.” Dave over exaggerated and easily tugged the other into his lap. John snickered.
“Hey….did you know she wants us to meet her boyfriend?” He asked, frowning lightly. The other paused and frowned as well.
“Well…that’s different…does he know?” He asked. John shrugged.
“Apparently he does and is cool with it.” He sighed. Doubt crossed over Dave’s face.
“Well….did you tell her we could have him over?” He asked. John nodded.
“Of course I did Dave! When have I ever said no to her?” He asked. Dave nodded in agreement.
Sighing John let the other start to leave kisses all over his face.
Jessica texted him the minute she had locked herself in her room. Smiling to herself. It wasn’t a big secret that he fathers were everything for her, I mean at the same time they gave her everything that they saw fair, but still didn’t give her too much as to spoil her, yet sometimes they did. She really did love them, they were amazing, and anyone who criticized them, she’d tell off in a heartbeat. Her parents were always there for her, and she at least wanted them to meet her boyfriend, who was just as equally amazing. He was of average height but yet a bit taller than her, his eyes were a nice green shade and his hair was a light hazel color, but truthfully he died it black ever now and then. Not cause he was goth, like most people labeled him as, it was cause he truly thought the color just complimented himself better. She didn’t care either way, he was amazing in school, and a big sweetheart. She was sure her parents were going to swoon over him. After a short conversation between the two, they agreed he’d come over the next day, cause why the heck not?
John was a bit surprised when the doorbell rang the next day. Sighing, his work tie unfolded, and his shoes just have been kicked off, he trailed into the living room, answering the door ready to turn down yet another salesman but was surprised when it was a teenage boy standing there.
“Mr.Strider?” He almost squeaked out. John smiled softening up lightly, this must be Jessica’s boyfriend….and the poor kid was so nervous. He laughed lightly.
“Yes! I suppose you’re the boy Jessica has been rambling about!” He held open the door. “Come on in!” He hesitated and stepped in smiling lightly, relaxing a bit more.
“Ah…so she talks about me?” He asked, genuinely curious. John nodded.
“Well she just told us yesterday, but she hasn’t stopped talking at all.” He said. The boy’s face lit up.
“Ah, well that’s good to hear I have such a good impression on her.” He chuckled. John smiled.
“Yeah, here, let me go get properly dressed and warn Dave that there’s visitors, sometimes he likes to walk around naked.” John sighed and rolled his eyes, kicking the door shut. The boy laughed.
“Nice, well that is your husband right?” He asked. John nodded and he chuckled. “Well hey, a man’s gotta be loose sometimes.” He added. John nodded, clearly amused as he raced up the stairs and into his room once more.
“Dave…”
“What?” Came the muffled response.
“The kid is here.” John replied and turned around to find the blond going through their closet.
“Yeah I know, kinda figured sweet cheeks.” He teased. “Set out some clothes for ya by the way.” He added, and John laughed.
“Should’ve known.” He snickered.
That was ironic though, cause that night, the punch spilt all over their guest, who’s named turned out to be Nathaniel, the poor kid was so embarrassed, but soon enough by the end of the night, he had some new clothes and was relaxed, fitting in just like he was part of the family, and later on he was. The wedding though, for Dave and John, was the best part.
