This beautiful Friday morning, February 7 on 91.1FM #Vocalo’s The Morning AMp we were happy to share two new singles, a chicha and a dumbia electronica. We also reminded folks about that smashing new video by Lido Pimienta for her song, “Eso Que Tu Haces” and that Chilean rockers Panico just announced they’ll be releasing all their discography in digital format this year. Don Chicharrón
The song “Valle” is by an 8-piece group based in Denver, CO who loooove love love cumbia chicha style. They are Don Chicharrón and are led by Peruvian musician ALDO PANTOJA. They just released an EP titled “En La Gruta del Rey De La Montaña” and I wanted to share the single off this particular EP because they are donating all the funds raised from the 7” directly to Casa de Paz & Metro Denver Sanctuary Coalition who “provide sanctuary to immigrants and their families, giving them a means to continue to resist their deportation.” Find it here: https://donchicharron.bandcamp.com/album/valle-b-w-en-la-gruta-del-rey-de-la-montan-a
MALEFICS
This is a little “dumbia electronica” from a Mexico project by the name of MALEFICS. They are led by Seth Tse of Sonido San Francisco and they are combining a little rock, a little industrial, a little goth and heavy electronic to make their interpretation of traditional Latin sounds, like cumbia, just a little bit spooky. This song is off their new 10-song album called JAROPE and it’s available via Galletas Calientes Records.
