I'm currently playing the fourth Deep Sleep game and am reminded of just how good their work is. Almost all of their games (excluding a few like A Small Talk or 400 Years) are available on Steam and I highly highly recommend them, they're amazing pixel horror/survivals

(Personally I recommend the playing order being the Deep Sleep and Don't Escape trilogies (either way round), then Don't Escape: 4 Days To Survive and finally Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken)

I’ve been watching playthroughs on don’t escape/deep sleep and I am going INSANE over it

THERES SO MUCH LORE

Gonna ramble a bit about some theorys/things I noticed under cut so there will be MAJOR spoilers

So, first off the crystals, we can assume that the crystal shown in don’t escape 3 and mentioned by Cate in the ending of don’t escape 4 is the same thing as the ones shown in the third deep sleep game due to both the coloring and clear relation to dreams since in don’t escape 3 your character mentions that the crystal must have taken them over while they were sleeping.

In don’t escape 3 your characters eye color is shown to have changed to blue due to the crystal, and from what I’ve seen David is the only character in don’t escape 4 explicitly shown to have blue eyes and we only see him after his first prophetic dream, the dreams in which we later find out are caused by us transferring our memories into our alternate universe bodies through the dream realm in an attempt to survive.

With the crystals being connected to the dream realm and causing changes in eye color we can assume that Davids eye color changed due to how many times he’s transferred his memories back.

Cate has prophetic dreams aswell although they come later on and are slightly different, Cody gets a dream the same night that references the zombie apocalypse in don’t escape 2 which could very well mean he has the ability to see into alternate universes with his dreams. While Barry doesn’t appear to get any dreams, although he could’ve gotten them and just not mentioned them in any of the playthroughs I’ve watched.

Barry not having any dreams is odd with how everyone else has them BUT I have a theory for that! In most playthroughs Cody is saved instead of Barry when you have to choose who to save which means he has probably sent his memories way less then Cody which means he most likely has less connection to the dream world, aswell as Cody being shown to have had a connection to the dream world in the deep sleep trilogy where you wake him up from a coma by placing his plush tiger on the bed labeled with his name, while this could be occurring in a different universe it’s still likely with how he’s mentioned to be nine in the newspaper your shown after you wake him up and he’s ten when you meet him in don’t escape 4.

Which means David has probably transferred his memories the most resulting in his eye color changing alongside having dreams, with Cate and Cody having transferred enough for them to get the dreams but not for their eye color to change, and with Barry having almost never transferred his memories resulting in him not having any dreams or changes in eye color.
