I find the Scott Cawthon option so interesting because its true.

Scott Cawthon really has (negatively) affected how people view lore when it comes to storytelling, the man made fnaf 4, then posted "hahaha no one solved it, hehe, too bad :3"

people separate the lore and narrative so much it frustrates me as a writer myself, the "lore" (what by most definitions is the Doylist perspective of the world.)

But Scott never had a Watsonian explanation, there was so comedically little thematic substance in fnaf that the only real two themes of the story are "the corruption of innocence" (and there's no real statements on it) and maybe "you have to move on from the past" which the story itself refuses to do.

Toby knows how to write, and the lore is just as big of a thematic part of the story as the narrative itself. Because there is no actual difference

Okay look. I've been seeing a lot of art for Susie after Chapter 5 laying in the storage closet surrounded by the Darkner objects, and it's all beautiful, heartrenching art, and I love angst, keep it coming.

But also.

I don't like this implication that her sleeping in Castle Town is... bad? because it's "not real"?

Like. It sucks that she doesn't have a real "home" in the Light World. That's awful. But why shouldn't Castle Town be a home to her, if she doesn't really have one in the Light World? Would you prefer her to sleep in a place that she doesn't feel safe in?

And that's just one thing. Because I get that something something too much escapism is bad.

But also.

I don't like this implication that Castle Town--and all its inhabitants--aren't real.

Because that defeats the purpose of Ralsei's arc.

It defeats the purpose of SUSIE's arc.

That defeats the purpose of... pretty much everything.

And that REALLY bugs me.

It IS real. THEY ARE REAL PEOPLE. Are we playing the same game?

And again, I'm not talking about the wonderful art. I love the art! I love angst! I'm talking about the reactions to the art. I've literally seen people say "omg get out of there Susie it's not real" and I'm like ?????. Hadst thou playedth the fucking game???

Idk. Sorry for the rant. It just makes me sad (and not in a good way) that people are acting like Lancer and Ralsei and everyone aren't real and don't matter.
