Song of the Year! Definitely Key's best work. Song is amazing, music video, choreography, the fashion – it's all spectacular and won't leave my mind.
2. Lost At Sea (Illa Illa 2) by B.I, Bipolar Sunshine, Afgan
I am so happy that there's finally a B.I song I can actually sing along to completely. And it gives me the same "head bang through the tears" vibe to it that Illa Illa does!
3. Remember Me by B.I
This has been one of my favorite songs from Waterfall since the album first came out, but I'm going through a re-enjoyment process after that iconic performance from the concert.
*Clips from the concert are getting blocked left and right, but please enjoy the rehearsal video, the choreo is so cute😩
4. Daisy by Pentagon
OMG I have never loved a song from a group I don't stan this much. Pretty sure I played it 20 times...in the same day.
5. Don't Recall by KARD
I've been Hidden KARD for awhile now, but for whatever reason, I'm just appreciating this song now and WOW am I late.
Your earliest memory was not something you remembered fondly. You had only been three, on the edge of being four, when everything in your life changed that one night.
“Take (Y/N) and get away from here!” Your father’s booming voice shouted.
Your mother hesitated, holding onto your hand. Her (E/C) eyes flickered from you to your father.
“Mommy?” you called out, voice wavering. Only moments ago, you were getting ready for bed with your parents and now... You had no idea what was going on. With how your father was reacting, you were scared though.
“I -”
“Go!”
With that last urgent message from your father, your mother scooped you into her arms and started to run.
You were unable to see much, but you caught a glimpse of your father creating a large flash of lights. You could feel the tears from your mother touch your skin as the two of you left through the back door of your home just before an explosion sounded.
You were thrown forward, tumbling through the air and into the bushes. You didn’t remember the pain or what happened after that. But you knew one thing...
You had lost everything that night.
You no longer had a home.
Your voice had become silence.
Both your parents had died that night and left you behind as an orphan with no other family to take you in.
All that you had managed to keep from that night was your name, (Y/N) (L/N).
The memory of that night sometimes became so vibrant that you had to retreat. Get away from everyone else and hide in your room. That was exactly what you felt the need to do now.
Glancing up, you noticed the empty gaze of the caretaker supervising over everyone. She was the one who never seemed to notice anything unless it was directed towards her. Slipping away from her would be easier - you wouldn’t need to show her your look of discomfort to convey your needs of getting away.
No one else in the playroom would notice you were gone. They were all too happy with own activities. No one made the effort to be friends with the girl who never spoke, it was too hard to play games with you. Plus, you never let anyone get close.
Walking right out the door, you never looked back as you wandered through the halls where some of the older children were.
“Where are you off to, Riddle?”
Your ears picked up on the voice, as you peeked around the corner. There were two boys facing each other, unaware of your presence. One had dark brown hair neatly brushed to a side, you recognized him as Tom. He was like you - he stood out because he didn’t want to fit in with everyone else here. The other boy had messy dirty blonde hair and was bigger than both you and Tom, his name was... Frank, you think.
“None of your business.” Tom responded.
Frank shoved Tom’s shoulder. “You think you’re better than everyone else here, don’t you? You’re nothing special, you know that, right?”
His mean words made you frown as your (E/C) eyes narrowed at the sight before you. As Frank reached forward again, you felt something surge within you and you saw Frank look like he was being pulled back in your direction by an invisible force. Startled, you pressed yourself closer to the wall.
Surprised, the boy stumbled and fell. Knowing that Tom didn’t raise a hand to even touch him, the boy looked terrified as he glanced around.
Tom’s dark brown eyes made contact with your (E/C) eyes, an inquiring look passing his face. It looked like he was trying to remember who you were.
Not wanting to be involved with anything going on there, you turned around and returned to your trek of going back to your room. This strange event with Frank was new and you felt it was akin to that night two years ago. The same energy seemed to buzz in the air - one that you didn’t think anyone else felt.
Slipping into your room and shutting the door behind you, you let out a sigh. Perhaps you could hide in here for the next day. You had a feeling that by tonight, ghost stories would be going around by Wool’s Orphanage and you were not interested.
All you wanted was a quiet night to calm your memories down, so you’d be able to sleep by night fall. With the sounds of your parents screams still lingering in your mind, a sense of helplessness washed over you.
It was going to be a long night.
Even with the rumors of ghosts and the supernatural lurking at Wool’s Orphanage, nothing strange happened to you the next few days following that incident.
For you, everything was back to its usual routine.
At least until someone tried to approach you.
“Hey, you!”
Initially unaware that anyone would be calling out to you, you had continued to walk away with a book clutched tightly to your chest.
“(L/N)!”
That caught your attention.
Turning around, you spotted the source of your unwanted attention. Tom.
He walked towards you with an expression of curiosity. Like he saw something in you that you didn’t. Regardless, it seemed like he didn’t know to leave you alone like everyone else.
You were trying to decide whether to go into fight or flight mode when Tom finally stood in front of you.
“You’re (Y/N) (L/N), right?” he asked to confirm.
You nodded slowly.
“You were there that day when it happened.”
You didn’t respond. What were you supposed to do? You didn’t want to get associated with what happened, nor did you want did conversation to continue. It was one-sided already.
Turning back around, you started to make the trip back to your room once more.
This didn’t deter Tom though. He walked right next to you.
“I saw you standing there, around the corner,” Tom continued. “I’m pretty sure it was you.”
Silent as always, you didn’t say anything. However, you did notice looks were being cast your way. The other orphans must have been surprised to see you and Tom walking together. If they were smart enough, they would see that Tom was the one bothering you, not the other way around.
“You must have seen everything that happened. There was no ghost there that day.”
There was a short pause.
“Did you have anything to do with what happened?”
You stopped in your tracks. Was that an accusation? Sure, you had felt something that day, but it was impossible that what happened to Frank was your fault, right? There was a feeling of uncertainty within you, but you were sure how to address it. Shaking your head, you stared at the boy in front of you.
“I have a feeling that you’re different from everyone else,” Tom said, his voice dropping to a hushed whisper. “I really believe that what happened with Frank was because of you. I’ve seen strange things happening around me sometimes, but never like anything that day.”
What was he going on about? Tom seemed to be onto something, but you had no idea what he was implying.
When Tom saw your (E/C) eyes narrowing at him, he didn’t see it as hostile. Even if he did, he must have looked past it.
“I’m Tom Riddle,” he spoke up.
Your I couldn’t care less look made some things very clear to Tom. One, you already knew his name. Two, you didn’t believe in what he said about you. Finally, there was so much more to you than what you lead everyone to believing at the orphanage.
It fascinated him that you of all people seemed to scare some of the others who lived here with you. Tom didn’t see how anything about you would be frightening. However, you were mysterious. There were rumors and speculations about how you ended in the orphanage, but no one seemed to know the truth.
“You don’t speak, do you?”
Your silence was a clear answer as any.
“Can you though? Speak?”
This question surprised you. No one had asked that question to you in a long time. Being honest to this strange boy, you curtly nodded. Speaking was a choice. You had chosen not to speak ever since that incident.
Noticing the silence between the two of you, it felt like a good time as any to take your leave. Even as you walked away from Tom, who had decided to let you go, you had a feeling that this wouldn’t be the first encounter you would have with this boy.
This would only be the first of many.
Why did the orphanage have to feel so small sometimes?
