i think people are starting to confuse class analysis with bioessentialism. like... no not all men do this, but Men as a constructed social class do do this. that's still okay to say. that is regular material analysis of the world around us.
this is true, but it is not bioessentialist. both cis & trans men WILL see a mouse & eat it. this is because it is in their best interest to eat mice. they benefit from eating mice. this is essential to their class position, not their biological makeup.
Researcher Mika Helenius warns that electricity prices in Finland could triple due to the approximately one hundred data centers planned for the country. He says that this is exactly what happened in Ireland.
Helenius estimates that the data centers will create only a few dozen jobs. According to him, only five percent of the investment money will remain in Finland.
Helenius also warns that Finland's electricity grid cannot handle as many data centers as are currently being planned.
According to the researcher, municipalities' weak financial situation is driving these projects forward without proper coordination.

Ukraine is a sovereign country â not Russiaâs satellite. It had every right to seek NATO membership, just like Sweden and Finland recently did. Neutrality isnât something Russia gets to impose on others with tanks.
NATO never promised not to expand
NATO didn't seek Ukraine out
Ukraine wanted into NATO because it didn't want to be invaded by Russia
It was concerned about being invaded by Russia because of that time Russia invaded them already, in defiance of a treaty they signed when Ukraine gave up its Soviet nuclear weapons in exchange for Russia's promise to never ever invade them.
For NATO to be "provoking" Russia in Ukraine, the act of not wanting to be invaded by Russia must be adequate casus belli on its own to be invaded by Russia.
If NATO is trying to harm Russia by prolonging this war, the only thing Russia has to do is stop invading Ukraine and it will be fine. NATO has no capability to force Russia to keep mulching manpower and materiel in Ukraine. Russia can just stop any time it likes.
If Ukraine violated a "red line" forcing Russia to invade them, then people would have known what that line was, and Russia's own military would have known "hey, that red line got crossed, we should get our shoes on" instead of being caught completely by surprise by the order to invade.
People always like to point out how Finland was neutral for so long before joining NATO. Well guess what? Finland was "neutral" for the fear of Russian tanks!

if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isnât
someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter
most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely donât and didnât when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you donât
homeless people actually canât be rehabilitated if you want to end homelessness. we either affirm the right to shelter for the worst drunken, lying, filthy, cheating, self destructive homeless people that exist, genuinely irredeemable wankers, or we concede that shelter is not a right

Iâm seeing a lot of people saying this post changed their brain chemistry, and as a neuroscientist I wanted to say yes!!! Yes it does!
Wanting something requires dopamine signaling, but liking something doesnât.
If you have a mental illness/disorder that affects dopamine, you might feel that you donât want to do the things that you like. You do still like them. You will appreciate having done them.
Let your likes guide you.
(If you want to read more, hereâs one experimental paper about it. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5171207/ This theory called the incentive-sensitization theory was originally created to explain behaviors in addiction but can be applied elsewhere as well)
Rewards are both âlikedâ and âwantedâ, and those two words seem almost interchangeable. However, the brain circuitry that mediates the psych
