After watching the movie and reading a bit of the book series, two versions of Fitz started forming. One more movie like and one more book like. Like two different AU’s. Other people talking about movie six and Fitz got me thinking and this is the repercussions.

My version of Movie!Fitz worked in golf Sierra. He is incredibly callous to ‘outsiders’ or useless people. He sees people more as possessions than anything and he knows. Has a bit of a twisted sense of morality. Lloyd was a younger more immature version of himself and he hated him. Fitz knows that fear and pain only go so far. Six is useful and he’s helped him. So he pulls as many strings as he can to make sure Six doesn’t get bothered. He makes mistakes? He sweeps them aside partly. Blames other stuff. The father-son bond is mutually beneficial. He knows his capacity for love is a paltry sum in comparison to others and he makes up for it. Claire is family so she gets whatever makes her happy. He still ‘feels’ when she gets hurt. He still has a sense of obligation. Their his so he won’t let someone(Lloyd) hurt them. In his own twisted way he cares. Maybe not traditionally but since six did his job and did it well he was going to back him. He genuinely places six higher than almost everyone in the cia in his mind. He’s still a possession but a very important one that he must make sure is taken care of.

Now Book!Fitz on the other hand, he cares a bit too much. Just like the book he has his own company. He gets impulsive when people he cares about are bothered. Similar to Movie!Fitz he is also somewhat cold or callous, but unlike the other he has a much deeper capacity for love and connection. His version of love still looks a bit different. Like teaching them how to use weapons or tactical skills in the field. His morals are a bit more contemporary. He still killed people so not that much but relative to the other Fitz he was a lot nicer. He saw how kind Six was to his family and because his family was safe and happy, Six earned his utmost respect and essentially got a place at the dinner table for saving his granddaughter’s. While Book!Fitz is protective, Movie!Fitz is possessive. Did much more time in the field compared to Movie!Fitz. Also a badass in the field, even at his age.

Wanted to sleep but this idea kept ping ponging in my head so I got it out in hopes I can sleep. Also lots of fic material in there. Listen once my mind latches on it won’t let go I can’t help it😔

I’m very surprised no one’s thought of the au of Claire being Courtlands actual Daughter?

Like something happens on a mission and nine months later Fitzroy hear’s some rumors and goes to take care of the problem but uh oh the problem turns out to be true and a baby and connected to the guy he actually likes so he takes her in as her uncle quote unquote.

Searched on the gray man and guess what, there are bloody books! Yes more lore, more to add to my tbr pile (which uh, might be piling up a little too high, but shush, ignore that). Though there seems to be a lot of changes from the books, at least I think the first one, Lloyd wasn't a psycho for one, Miranda's a movie og character, Fitzroy did not have a niece, they were his son's family, his backstory too apparently, some locations too. Which sounds like less of an adaptation and maybe more of an inspiration.

There are a lot of books actually, it's 15 and still ongoing? Aside from the first few, Mr. Greaney seems to be releasing them yearly, and plans to write the series indefinitely. He accordingly tries to base it on reality, trained and consulted with experts and so, so not so much hand waving of physics or some of the situations is what I'm guessing at for maybe the books, though the movie is a bit hand waved and time skipped, travelling does seem to take a lot of time and they didn't really give much in the passage of time in the movie, he seems to recover a bit too fast from injury too imo, like the pepper spray, which Ryan Gosling did admit that he would change if they let him reshoot that. Oops, my thoughts are flying again, I'm kind of wondering if this would be like the dune situation where apparently the books are more politically savvy than the movies, less action.

Point is, the people's enthusiasm is infectious and I just might be watching the Fall Guy next.

Sneak Peek for Afterglow: September 1995

September 1995

Your fingers drummed on the cold steel table as you sat waiting in a room by yourself. Handcuffs clinking against the table when you hear the door creak open behind. You turn to see an older man come into the room. His hair was a grayish white and he was clad in a suit with files in hand. He took a seat opposite of you. Glancing up at you and offering a small smile. 

You keep your mouth in a thin line as you wait for the man to speak. 

“Hi, y/n”, he said. “My name is Donald Fitzroy, I’ll make this quick. I reviewed your file and what’s happening doesn’t add up.”

You sighed, “Which part? The one where my step mom changed her story? Or my father throwing me under the bus?”

“Both.” he replied. “I looked at your father’s record too. It seems clear cut, but no one believes you.”

You scoffed, “You believe me huh?” He nodded his head in response. “Well, you have my attention. I assume you’re here to help in some way, unless you’re working for my father and there’s another shoe waiting to drop.”

He sat up in his chair, “What if I were to tell you, you could be out of juvie today?” You furrowed your eyebrows, silently urging him to explain. “I’m putting together a program to train an elite group of agents. Based on your record. You have the grit and resilience to survive. Plus, if they sentence you, you could go away for a long time. Either way is a gamble, but your chances are higher if you leave here with me.” 

You raised a cuffed hand, “I want out of this hell hole, Fitzroy.”

He smiled and waved a hand at the window. “I’ll tell you more in the car. But y/n, let’s get you out of here first. Oh, I forgot.” He stopped and reached in his pocket, spearmint gum. He held out a stick and you took it. “We’ll stop for food on the way. Welcome to the Sierra Program, y/n.”
