I just want to say that some of those blog-to-blog donation scams are going around again. I have gotten THREE in the last 2 weeks and it's starting to piss me off.
They are SCAMS and I will never donate to some rando hitting up my inbox with some made up sob story about a cat, cancer, ect. Whoever is making those types of scambots is the SCUM OF THE FUCKING EARTH. FUCK YOU FOR TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE'S GENEROSITY ABOUT REAL ISSUES, ESPECIALLY STUFF LIKE CANCER. SHAME ON YOU.
Now. Here's a brief how-to on detecting and protecting yourself and preventing spreading misinformation from these so-called """people""" wanting you to donate to their bogus cause.
How to check if they are a legit blogger is to make sure that the blog wasn't made in the last few months. Best way to check is to click on the blog and look for the archive or have post timestamps turned on.
The one that hit me up just now was just 14 HOURS OLD. They also have a lot of random 'liked' jargon in their archive. Usually popular posts or nonsensical gifsets or images with no fandoms, art, posts, or anything else of the sort. There are NO connections or interests. Just randomly selected posts.
Plus, people who actually need help DON'T EVER hit up random people in their inboxes. They usually make a personal post about their issues and place them in donation tags or other relevant tags. BUT ALWAYS BE WARY FOR BUZZARDS LIKE THESE SCAMMERS WHO ALSO USE THE TAGS FOR THEIR OWN GAIN. CHECK BEFORE YOU DONATE.
It's a sad world that we now have to be skeptical of charitable pleas for help or charity campaigns BECAUSE of shitheads like scammers taking advantage of people's kindness and generosity.
Report them for spam/bot and block them. Don't interact with them and DON'T click on ANY links they provide. They are scams and they are awful bots run by equally horrible humans.
