Terry Norris ended Don Curry’s fading dream of another world title #OnThisDay in 1991 by knocking him out in the eighth round in defence of his WBC light-middleweight crown. At times Forth Worth’s Curry showed why he was the best fighter in the game, but speed, formerly Curry’s forte, belonged to Norris. The 23-year-old champion, who trounced Sugar Ray Leonard in his last fight, was blindingly fast at times. For seven rounds it was competitive and then the end came suddenly. "I wanted to knock him out," said Norris afterwards. "I started thinking, I beat Leonard. I beat the legend. Can't nobody touch me.” “Right now, I’m not looking to go up to middleweight. If Meldrick Taylor comes up maybe we’ll do battle.” Curry announced his retirement after the fight, but returned briefly in 1997 for a comeback that last two fights when he was stopped by Emmett Linton in Las Vegas. #boxing #BoxingNews #NorrisCurry #TerryNorris #DonCurry (at Palm Springs, California)
