I learned the other day that this temple (the main temple at Dongguk University, which is a Buddhist university) used to be the throne room at one of the Joseon Dynasty royal palaces (Gyeonghuigong). When the Japanese dismantled Gyeonghuigung during the colonial occupation, a Buddhist sect bought the throne room to use as a temple and it was later integrated into Dongguk University.
Never realized until today that it is visible from Namsan Dullegil (at least when there are no leaves on the intervening trees).
