name: Dongmei name meaning: "winter plums" a name that offers hope and cheer as winters in China can be harsh and the winter plums are first to blossom age: 26 height: 5'8" Animal assigned: dog The idea of her being a married woman...but widowed and uses that talking point often for pity to her clients because what are you gonna do? Hate a poor widow to a man who died in battle and she's left with the financial burden? Hm? Said husband dying literally three days into the marriage but people don't need to know that. Dongmei lies by omission or exaggeration of the truth so often just a lil scammy but mostly trying to do her job but confused by demons and doesn't have demon playbook how it goes with them so she assumes a lot of incorrect information.
yes dressing liked the horned up pidw fashion that sqh just dresses women in Dongmei was a girl who matured fast an quickly looked older than other girls her age, and despite many attempts at marrying her off quickly she didn't get married until she was 18 to a man who already had a wife that died prior. She was already starting a new life being a replacement. he was three years older than her but his wife died in childbirth along with his first child early into his first marriage. His parents insisting he try again so they could have another shot at a grandchild she didn't hate him, she didn't love him, but in her eyes he was just enough that she thought she could live with this. It was one night together obviously after the marriage ceremony after her husband dies she's left in a limbo state, she did shed a few tears but its hard when you were never so close but anticipated you'd be seeing one a lot more. Her original family says she married off into the other family, she cant come back so simply [they wanted her gone]. The husbands family didn't want anything to do with her, she got married and well no child even nd now no son alive either? she's a jinx. Only so much money left from her husbands finances and she needed to figure out fast what she needed to do. She dreaded the thought being a brothel woman. She doesn't want to work scrubbing clothes if she can truly help it... she knew one thing though, her grandmother was a match maker, she could be one too. she's seen what she did and was sure she can do just the same. so she left her town, moving to another place where people don't know her and to set up shop. to a man who died in a war, not to any demonic war but just a human on human dispute. she holds no real beef with demons and hasn't been shown why to hate them but that doesn't mean she isn't a bit intimidated and scared when they come around. She knows demons are powerful, and they can be abit more...violent but a customer is a customer and if shes one of the first to get a market in demon and human relations then she can carve a name out faster than any competitor. After all the demon emperor married a human shes heard of it, if the emperor wants to marry humans then maybe more demons want to marry humans, and maybe she can match make demons together too!

Dongmei at least will get some good clientele in the next few years for her business, even if she's flying by the seat of her pants its so easy to marry humans together just need some people who aren't rude or finicky and things truly go well enough. At least for any demons coming to try their hand to meet with some humans from a close enough town She really is good at adapting for a quick changing society even if more humans are wary still of demons and more reserved Her actually adapting for demon integration is what leads her business to do better but I think inadvertently she's teaching more demons how to romance humans....hey if they're paying for it she can tell them But then I think it does turn a bit of business away on the human side esp the stuck up and fearful ones who don't wish to encounter a potential demon when going to a match maker even if they can specify no demon matches Its a mixed bag but its still positive for her business since its more business regardless as a small matchmaker trying to establish herself enough _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dongmei's thoughts about romance : shes hot and cold about romance in clearest terms due to what happened. Sure romance is nice, she didnt get it really, didnt feel love, but also she had a few months to know him and one night together after the wedding and she thought she'd have more time to develope like how many girls say they found love with their marriage after enough time. fun fact: her being 5'8" couldve also scared off other suitors who didnt like a woman their height or even taller and also so filled out curvy that others kept thinking shes lying about her age so thats why for years she didnt have good match making success considering how superficial a lot of reasons guys have esp for a girl without much dowry either
