Pale Blue [ Mitsuki + Mirai ]
"Mirai...? Hello, can you hear me?"
The girl in question held on loosely to a pale pink watering pail that dripped every now and then. Her distant gaze was fixed on the shop's front window, as she was seemingly consumed in her thoughts. Her employer, now a very concerned elderly woman, wandered over from behind the counter where she had been arranging bouquets to gently place a hand on Mirai's shoulder.
"Dear, you're going to drown that poor thing! I think it's had plenty of water today!" she exclaimed, chuckling in amusement. "Is there something on your mind? You don't seem as focused as you usually are."
Mirai was immediately drawn from her daydreams with a soft gasp of surprise. She focused her wide-eyed gaze on the woman next to her and then to the watering pail in her hand, only now realizing that she must have drifted off. "O-Oh, I..."
Bowing her head in embarrassment, she set the pail onto the table and offered a small, sheepish smile. "I'm so sorry, Mrs. Suzuki," she apologized sincerely. "I guess that I was just thinking about some things..."
"Nonsense. Don't you worry for a minute! You've been very helpful today and it's a bit quiet... Why don't you take the rest of the evening off? Maybe go grab yourself some dinner. I can look after things myself."
With that suggestion, Mirai swiftly grabbed her belongings from the back room, quietly thanked the kind woman and exited the shop. The familiar ring of the door sounded behind her and she paused in her steps to gaze from side to side, thinking. Dinner before heading home did sound awfully nice...
Of course, that also meant she would have to head into the busier streets of Nox. The flower shop was located on the outskirts of the more busier locations, which Mirai was secretly thankful for. Adjusting the scarf around her neck some, she began walking at a moderate pace.
She didn't stop until she felt the necklace around her neck abruptly grow warmer. "H-Huh..." Blinking her eyes rapidly, Mirai firmly tugged off one of her mitts and reached into her shirt to grasp the key that was indeed warmer than it normally was...
Did this mean what she thought it did?
