I don’t want this au to be just a retelling of canon except their royalty, so there will be some noticeable changes.
Donna: She still has her original backstory with the fire and being rescued by Diana. I couldn’t find a good reason for why Themyscria would make an arranged marriage for Dick & Donna but my best reason is that it was to show that they didn’t actually plan to destroy the United States. Bruce agreed because he and Diana are friends and so on. The wonder twins meet shortly after and never have any interest in each other romantically, but they’re both platonic soulmates so they don’t really care about the inevitable until…
Kory: From a far away kingdom where she was princess before being sold to prevent war, of course. Human Kory is an idea I reject so she’s still an alien and no one questions it. Anyway Kory escapes and takes refugee in Gotham while Donna just so happens to be visiting. Naturally upon finding her they immediately take her in and become friends. Although she is glad to finally be with trusted friends after being enslaved for so long, Kory still misses her home and is terrified of someday forgetting it.
(Note - There’s no dickkory in this verse. Technically I could replace their relationship with friendship or continue the romance to create a love triangle kind of situation? But I don’t hate Dick and if I needed a guy to get in-between I’d just add Terry)
Raven: Like canon, she is the daughter of Trigon and Arella and a pacifist dedicated to stopping her father. But unlike canon, Trigion is more of a treat to the polycule than the world. She fucks shit up and runs until the team is finally able to get her to sit down and befriend her. When Raven realizes that she loves them both she panics and distances herself. She steadfastly believes that she is going to only hurt them in the end and a bunch of other horrible shit. Weirdly enough I think the best person to pull her out of this would be Victor.
So this entire situation is a disaster. Donna takes the longest of the 3 to realize she wants them - Kory realizes it first, then Raven - and this leads her to question the entire arranged marriage. Originally it was just a transactional affair, she loved Dick as a friend and if it meant the Amazons wouldn’t be viewed as a threat? She had no problems with it. But now that she has two people who she admires enough to spend the rest of her life with them? It’s not so simple.
Potentially here we could add Dick having an affair with honestly anyone. Donna is like “??? You don’t wanna be married either?” Dick is like “Donna it’s not like that. Hey what was that second part.”
Most of this fic is a slow-burn, until…
The day of the wedding: Dick and Donna are both miserable. Raven has her head in her hands on the front row questioning her existence while Vic demands that she goes up their and kisses Donna right fucking now. Meanwhile Kory is conflicted. She doesn’t want to hide her emotions, it’s just not who she is. But at the same time she doesn’t want to hurt Donna and Raven.
This is when Trigion crashes the wedding.
Que battle sequence. They win but it’s close and there’s a scene where the girls think they are gonna die and confess their love for each other. Only for them to survive and call off the wedding. Lesbians just keep winning.
