never forget what's really important: approval from pervert women on the internet
My three girlfriends. And yes, they smoke weed.
that’s really great man
I saw someone on tiktok yumeshipping with Trigon and for a second I understood the whole doubles thing. that man is MINE
Demon Raven took over the world and she wanted to keep Donna for gay sex reasons but she knows Donna loves Her Husband Terry and she's nice, so she keeps Terry too but he has to just kind of hang out while Raven pets his wife like a cat and do a dance to amuse her like a cucked little jester. This is because Raven is a benevolent ruler.
Also Trigon is there
Raven's breasts are small and she usually doesn't wear a bra because she doesn't really need to, but sometimes she gets horny because she senses the feeling from someone else and her nipples get sensitive and chafe against the fabric of her shirt :/
in order to truly get rid of misogyny in fandoms we need to treat girl characters the same way we treat guy characters. Say you’d hit her with your car. Say you want to see her crying and trying and failing to keep her emotions hidden. Say you want her to get worse. Say you want to chew on her like a squeaky toy. For feminism

they should serve eggnog year round as a controversial milk
meant an alternative milk .
me and the family when the eggnog issue comes up
It’s uncomfortable how the cutting board and cabinets split the picture in halves.
It's meant to symbolize the division created by the eggnog
Shout out to the phrase “I’m going to become the joker” for capturing a very specific and real emotion
I'm always thinking about this promo art from 1983. Will Trigon destroy his daughter, Raven...
"all you ever do is complain" that's not true. I also resent.

almost at 500 raven asks yayyyyy
What fascinates me about Raven is that she’s clearly inspired by South Asian culture (Indian culture in particular) and was raised in what is essentially a Buddhist cult. I also don’t believe for a second that it was an accident that Marv Wolfman, a Jewish man, gave her a Jewish surname.
It may well not have been an accident, but Marv Wolfman didn't give Raven her civilian name, that was Geoff Johns.
She didn't use any name other than "Raven" until 2005 when she created the identity of Rachel Roth ("Rachel" being a completely new addition, "Roth" being her mother's surname before she became simply "Arella") to enroll in school.
Up until then she'd always just been known as Raven (and had enrolled in college under that one name back in the 80's).
Interesting, I didn’t know that. Still, “Rachel Roth” is a pretty Jewish sounding name (Rachel comes from Hebrew). It’s funny that Johns accidentally made her seem more Jewish.
The even weirder thing is a recent-ish comic kind of soft launched her being Jewish, only for that to be immediately dropped and it hasn't been mentioned at all again since.
(Dark Crisis: The Deadly Green)
I personally have never really gotten the vibe from Marv Wolfman's writing that he saw Raven as a Jewish character. The few Jewish elements she has were pretty much all added by later writers. Actually, the most recent thing he wrote with Raven leaned in really heavily on the retcon that Arella's family is very Christian (another Geoff Johns addition to Raven's lore, but Wolfman expanded on it far more than he ever did).
However, that all being said, Arella is actually a Hebrew name! And the definition the Azarathian who gives it to her says (that it means "messenger angel") is basically what it means in Hebrew. It's usually spelled Erela in English. But that's basically the only Jewish element in Wolfman's Raven.
((Also, I really hate the retcon that Raven's real and birth name is Rachel... I'll never understand it. Her name is Raven. No one had a problem with her name being Raven. Why change it?))
I’d say that Arella’s surname being Roth indicates she’s ethnically Jewish (even if her family was Christian) which would make Raven also Jewish because Judaism is matrilineal. Obviously DC isn’t going to do anything with Jewish Raven if they’ve dropped it immediately, which is disappointing but not surprising. Still, they’ve acknowledged it’s a Jewish surname so at least it’s something? I like “Raven” as her name but having Arella name her after a woman in the Torah is genuinely adorable.
True, but if Arella’s surname is Roth just because, say, one grandfather was Jewish, it doesn’t meant a whole lot, especially if she was raised Christian. Saying she named Raven after a woman from the Torah is pretty solid confirmation, though.
I think my other issue with that moment, though, other than the retcon, is that it feels kind of out of character for Arella? A lot of Arella’s character is built on the rejection of conventional religion. She feels failed by mainstream religion so she becomes a satanist, and then when that goes even worse she devotes herself completely to Azar. Even after she no longer wants to be a satanist, she still clearly has a low view of mainstream religion. So her naming her daughter after a biblical character doesn’t really make sense to me.
