here they are! finally! sorry it took me so dang long i’ve been a bit busy for a couple weeks 

not final designs, just wanted to draw something a little bit finished of them to start with

Okay but Ferncloud would be pissed. So pissed. Seeing as Squirrel would probably just go to warrior duties as she loves being a warrior (like in canon) so that leaves Ferncloud and Daisy to raise them. So they basically raised these kits and then Fern hears that her own brother tried to kill these kits she'd be. So pissed.

poor ferncloud, she’d be the one most hurt by his betrayal. it’d be pretty much like her brother tried to kill her own kits.

(speaking of ferncloud lets just... also take away her relation to dustpelt so they can be happy+devoted together without it being gross. also, daisyxfern is a thing. also, daisyxbrightxcloud would be a thing. poly nursery queens for everyone!)

also in this au: spottedleaf’s heart DID NOT HAPPEN. additionally, take thistleclaw out of the dark forest and put him in starclan with snowfur. thistle and ashfur essentially switch places. 

yknow, like they should’ve been in the beginning (under the assumption that spottedleaf’s heart isn’t canon. if it is, send him to the dark forest. but either way ashfur is getting sent to the dark forest.)

squirrelflight--the savior of thunderclan, after it was almost torn apart by ashfur and his relentless quest for vengeance with the assistance of the dark forest cats. (made even more bitter by the fact that ashfur was alive to see tigerstar’s rampage--his desire for vengeance blinded him of everything)

thunderclan would probably be quite shaken and weakened by one of their respected senior warriors turning traitor over being rejected, but they’d be proud to have loyal, strong warriors like squirrelflight.

so far, we have this as a draft:

acornkit -> acornpaw -> acornheart (warrior) lilac ticked tabby with amber eyes; they/them pronouns. looks quite a bit like his grandfather, firestar, albeit a bit bulkier and larger; and his warrior name was given in partial honor of him. has a hypersensitivity to emotions in other cats, to the point where they often feel what other cats feel Because of their powers, they developed an anxiety disorder at an early age, prefers to hang out with more positive cats. Likes to hang out with the elders with oak. generally shy and straight-faced, but not unkind. tries to help cats however they can.

oakkit -> oakpaw -> oakspirit (warrior) black ticked tabby w/ white muzzle, chest and paws, and green eyes; ??? pronouns (she/they?). stocky but sleek. has hypersensitive hearing that connects to their sense of touch; echolocation has a close relationship with the elders after saving longtail’s life in a fire with their echolocation, and a close relationship with starclan/the warrior code (kinda like hollyleaf). talks a lot with the medicine cats regarding signs/starclan. 

pinekit -> pinepaw -> pinebreeze (med cat) chocolate ticked tabby w/white toes (and blaze?), and amber eyes; he/him pronouns. big, bulky, with a build very similar to brambleclaw’s. has hearing/smell/sight that are extremely good at detecting small, subtle changes; makes him very good at detecting a cat’s vitals and ailments and the coming weather. is close to his aunt leafpool, is naturally very organized; expressed extreme interest in herbs and being a medicine cat since he was a kit. he prefers the physical aspects of being a medicine cat over the spiritual ones, so he works with leafpool and oakspirit for that end of his duties. 

this isnt finalized or anything and I’d love to hear any comments/critiques/notes/additions!

Pinebreeze shoots back that Oakspirit sounds like an Ent's name. Oakspirit, unfortunately for Pinebreeze, thinks Ents are really cool.

i was goin through your blog the other day, and you brought up cross-clan donors (for trans cats n the like) and i was wondering how you think that'd go about happening? :o im making some fan clans and i wanna introduce that into the setting, if its alright with you ofc

I put it under a cut bc it got long. I tend to overexplain things, so hopefully this makes sense! and of course feel free to adjust it however you like. And you (and anyone else who wants to for that matter) absolutely can use this idea for your fancharacters/ocs/fanworlds!! Thank you for asking! feel free to send another ask if you need clarification. and if you do make anything regarding to your world I’d love to see it, feel free to link or submit it to me!

I’d imagine that the cat/pair of cats looking for kits and needing a donor would approach their leader, who would call in the medicine cat (and sometimes the deputy) in to a meeting to discuss it. Then the group would set out to visit the clan of the cat/pair of cats choice, tho most of the time it’d be the clan or clans that they were allies with at the time.

The group would then go and meet with the leader of the other clan and their medicine cat, to discuss possible donors and the medicine cats could discuss their family histories and health and such. If the cat/cats looking for a donor had a friend from that clan, they could call them in to the meeting to discuss it.

If they didn’t know anyone from that clan, then the leader would have to go and talk with their warriors to see who would be willing and able. I think there’d be a sort of system where, when a cat becomes a warrior, they speak with the leader and medicine cat about if they’re willing to be a donor and any limitations they have.

Then the cat/pair of cats looking for a donor would obv speak with the cat willing to donate, get to know each other, discuss everything (usually with at least the medicine cats present, perhaps the leaders as well). Maybe they’d all take a few moons to get to know each other better, with scheduled meeting times at neutral territory (maybe said neutral territory could also be used for differing clan cats who met one way or another and became close friends or fell in love?).

If everything goes well and everyone consents, then the donation will proceed as planned. The kits will be raised without the donor being considered a parent, though however close the family is to the donor would vary case by case.  it could be opted for donors to be kept secret, but the leaders and med cats and ofc the cats involved would all know), some kept the donor close in their life, some merely spoke highly of them and met with them at gatherings, some kept mostly quiet about it, and some were complete secrets.

I’m sure this could all happen in a more secretive/less formal way, but that wouldn’t exactly be approved of.

Ultimately I think it’d be a common thing and be considered honorable to be a donor, to pass on your legacy and the strengths of your clan and to contribute life to the forest and to keep the clans as a whole strong and healthy.

I think donors would usually be used for mated pairs who couldn’t have kits of their own for whatever reason (trans or otherwise) or even for single parents (trans or otherwise) who wanted to raise kits.

Outsiders/rogues could be used as donors too, if they were friends with the cat/cats involved, or even if they were friends with the leader/medicine cat and were willing to donate (ex someone like Barley, or heck even cats like the mountain tribes)

It would probably work best in a world where clan relations are a bit closer, perhaps where they were at least a little aware of what a restricted breeding pool could do and the damage it would cause, and to keep the clans going without inbreeding becoming necessary. So a world where friends between clans were allowed, even relationships between clans.  But those relationships would probably be a little restricted (arranged meeting times, privileges, etc) to avoid blatant trespassing on other clans’ territory, and to avoid dishonest cats using it as an excuse to roam/hunt outside of their territory. I also would imagine a world like that would be more willing to take in and perhaps even occasionally seek out outsiders/rogues/kittypets–maybe like what firestar and sandstorm did in firestar’s quest for skyclan?–to keep the gene pool fresh and add new skills and genes to the clan.
