next here! journal log! there's a location in the Arctic called "The Aerlyn" (the proper spelling is Aerlyn, rather than Airlyn; Aerlyn is the Cavran name as its in Cavrah) which makes up a lot of the mass. The Aerlyn, and much of the Arctic in general, has been blocked off via multiple means (including actual mountains formed in unnatural ways) to humanity, and is guarded by a mysterious force. the actual gender - or type of being - of this individual is unknown, but in Donovan's culture they're referred to in masculine terms. June 8, 3524

I am aboard the beautiful ship Aillil, and our expedition begins. Captain Stegarn ér Cornha has travelled such before, which inspires an ounce of courage in me. I must admit; I find myself in fear over this voyage. Countless ships finding themselves trapped in the ice, dying, barred from the True Arctic, The 'Airlyn', it has been closed to all since the 3rd millennia. The Keeper of the Airlyn, whatever you wish to call him - I hear that the Cavran say 'Cassandra' - does not let anyone in. And I do not think we will be the ones to succeed. I pray that we will be granted safe travels.

June 15, 3524

It has been a week since we set sail. I have fallen quite in love with the Ailil. She is a beautiful ship, and a powerful one, sailing through the ocean with ease. My family always found humour in my 'self-imposed celibacy', as they would say, but perhaps I've found love at last - that being the Ailil, of course.

In other news, I have made a friend. Besides the ship cat, Bran, of course. He came across me engaging in my 'pointless' amusement; that being drawing. But instead of rebuke, like from my parents, my new friend appeared to enjoy it quite a lot. His name's Faílin ér Coahair, and he's a sail maker. I have always been a bit 'shy', I suppose - my father would scold me for it, and for being 'sensitive' - but Faílin is so very easy to talk to. He says his home is the sea, which inspired a bit of a chuckle in me - it sounds like a line from a book! - and he laughed along. Oftentimes I speak not realizing I had been rude, but he does not seem to mind, which is quite relieving to my 'sensitive' self. And so continues our journey.

June 27, 3524

Today we have reached Port Reámin. I've never been - to the city, but also this far north - but Faílin says he has. He has travelled quite a lot, it appears to me. Far more than I ever have. I enjoy his stories; at night, we have been placed together on watch and he regales me with tales.

Port Reámin is a beautiful city, I will admit. Captain ér Cornha says we must make this visit quick, if we're to reach Braingha by our scheduled date. That will be our next stop; then, we continue to the Airlyn. There is a dread in me that grows - but none as great as the thought of staying back home in Glasínil.
