[id: two pictures of a pin of kris dreemurr heavily referenced from their orderx sprite, where they're crouching down with their hands in t-rex arms at their sides. they have an added set of dog ears and fluffy tail. the first image has it as a loose circle of paper, and the second has it in a finished pin. /end]

have some asriel & chara under the cht. not done jsut want to post
The sun is bright.
That's the first thing Asriel notices as he steps out past the Barrier. Some knowledge he can't quite figure out when he acquired tells him it's late afternoon - just far enough into the day for the sun to be visible without him having to crane his neck back too much. The sky is a clear blue. It's so beautiful, almost inviting him to stare.. and so he does. He stands there, transfixed, for just a moment, forgetting the reason he's able to be out here in the first place.
.. That is, until someone speaks.
* Asriel, you can't stare at the sun like that. It's not good for your eyes.
"Chara?" The voice comes from everywhere and nowhere at once, inside him somhow. Even still, he looks down at the child cradled in his arms. Their eyes are still closed, and he shudders at the memory of the glassy brown they had become before Asriel's mother had gently shut them, her motions like wiping away her child's tears. A part of him recoils at the thought.
Of course, the corpse doesn't speak. It doesn't move. It's dead, soulless, doll-eyed and empty. He looks around some more.
* I'm in your brain, idiot. You absorbed my SOUL.
The words are unkind, but he can hear the smile in his sibling's voice. That snort is them trying to hold back a laugh. They never were very good at that.
Chara clears their throat somehow, interrupting his premature nostalgia.
* That's the sun. If you stare at it too long you'll hurt your eyes.
"Was it always this.. bright?" Asriel asks, but he keeps his eyes averted, staring at the rest of the wide blue sky instead. It's all so big.
* Indeed it was. The Barrier messed it up somehow, I think? It's like you've looking at it from underwater your whole life.
There's a pause.
* They really wanted to suck the joy out of every little thing, didn't they.
"Well, it didn't work! 'Cause we got you, and you gave all of us hope."
* And then I went and killed myself. Freedom for monsterkind, at the cost of my own.
* Speaking of freedom for monsterkind, we should get moving before Mom and Dad come looking. I know they cannot follow us out here, but I don't trust Mom not to figure out a whole new way to bypass the Barrier to keep her baby boy safe.
Asriel snorts. "Hehe, she would."
