Since you brought up that first D&D campaign of yours I played in, @chjorniy-voron , I just had to doodle a few scenes involving the wonderful doofy duck-worshipping cleric I played, Pato Canard.
First of course we have Pato on one of his (in?)famous swan rowboats... which he maaaaay have been living out of before getting scooped up by the party. Not wishing to leave them behind, wheels were added to the boats and carried us faithfully on our journeys until destroyed by a sand wyrm. Behind him is the NPC Lucius, the most judgemental undead centurion ever and the Most Valuable member of the party, who follows Pato around... for some reason?
Below we have one of the many times Pato consulted the duckling he keeps in his pocket (the party never did figure out why Pato did this). Pato’s interpretations were often... nonsensical, but often worked out anyways.
Finally we have Pato’s first encounter with Lucius, in which Lucius silently judges Pato’s embarrasing display of utterly failing to defeat Lucius when he is down to simply a skull.
I even have the original description/’backstory’ I wrote up! :
“Pato is a traveler (not sure from where: just not this city), and worships a deity that no one seems sure of hearing about.- Anatidae. Her holy symbol appears to be a billed bird’s head flanked by open wings- usually colored white.
From Pato’s preaching, this deity seems to value:
Traveling- Pato seems to be on a continuous pilgrimage of sorts, and praises journeys and migration.
Following- he preaches the virtue of following those who will lead, and to a lesser extent leading those who will follow. Pato seems to take this literally as well, enjoying orderly lines.
Nature- Pato preaches respect for Nature and its creations, in particular reverence towards our “feathered friends.”
Protecting the Helpless- in particular animals (especially feathered friends) and the young.
Pato keeps a duckling in his pocket, which he consults upon occasion. Unbeknownst to others, he worships it as his deity (or an incarnation of her). Whether the duckling herself is a god, or avatar... or not, Pato is not merely a “quack”- he’s certainly getting divine power from somewhere. “
