Doom Driven is 10 years old today
It's actually older and I started plotting it out in Spring 2013, but I started posting it 10 years ago today over on FFN. It's a few days younger on AO3.
At first I thought this was a milestone for my first fic over 250,000 words long, but it's actually more of a millstone around my neck. Doom Driven has been a WIP for a decade. And that's not going to change in the foreseeable future.
True, at least I've managed updates over that time, sometimes more sporadic than others. There's been quite a few chapters posted over this year.
And I haven't given up on completing it. The problem is that all of my current inspiration is for other fics. In a different fandom.
Back in July I was bitten by the rabid plot bunny responsible for the first of these new fics. I wasn't exactly thrilled at the time because what I really wanted was to get Doom Driven finished. But I needed the distraction, and still do, so I took what I could get.
There's one last chapter of Doom Driven that in theory only needs editing before I post it. The remaining chapters are rather more skeletal and need fleshing out and sometimes rewriting what's there.
The problem is that this last backlog chapter ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I have no idea when I'd next be able to update after that. It seems a little cruel to leave my poor readers like that for who knows how long.
