"Thank you for the invitation! I’m so sorry I can't make happy hour."
One week later...
"Unfortunately, I can't make the birthday party."
Two weeks later…
“I’m unable to join that day.”
One month later...
"I won't be there."
Four months later...
"I'm moving to South Africa."
It's so insane once you lose the emotional attachment to someone and the next moment you realise how ordinary they were and you keep wondering "what was I even thinking?!"
