Alternate Ending - It short #5
****So, I have an entire google doc full of It imagines that I wrote but a lot of them just consist of me shipping the characters and them falling in love, however, this is one of the ones I’m the most proud of. It’s dumb and obviously there would be no story if Georgie had lived but I wanted to explore that side of the story (I only know the 2017 movie version SUPER well) Anyways, I’m really proud of how this short turned out and that’s why I’m skipping straight to it.*****
No one expected it. But the one that least expected it was Georgie Denbrough. He thought for sure he was done for. It had already been who knows how long. He’d lost an arm and was trapped down in the sewers somewhere. He’d found a hiding spot where it had seemed like the clown couldn’t find him but how could he know when he hadn’t even seen it in a few days? “BILL!” someone yelled. Georgie gasped and looked up clutching his arm stub. He wanted it to be real, but he wasn’t even sure what real was anymore. “BILL!” The voices screeched again. Georgie took a deep breath, grabbed the small paper boat he had finally gotten back from the clown and poked his head out from his secret hiding spot in the tower of junk. What he saw though surprised him. He saw himself standing in the corner, slowly walking forward. Talking to something or someone. “What took you so long Billy?” The not Georgie said, in a very convincing Georgie voice. Georgie stood halfway in his hiding spot, clutching tight to his boat trying to not to make a sound. But he couldn’t stop the small gasp from escaping when he heard the next voice reply. “I-I’ve been looking for you this whole time.” Georgie knew that voice. He would know that voice anywhere. His brother was here. He really was here. He came to save him! Only he wasn’t the one talking to him. He had to change that. He ran out of his hiding spot and right past the not Georgie straight into Bill, who fell to the ground from the sudden impact. “Billy!” He exclaimed. Bill looked back and forth between the two Georgie’s confused. “G-G-Georgie?” He asked. “You found me! I knew you would!” Georgie exclaimed, happy tears running down his face, wrapping his arm around his brother and hiding his face in his shirt. “Billy- HOLY FUCK!” Richie yelled as he and the others ran up to them. A low growl came from the not Georgie. “Wait, how are there two?” Eddie asked, looking back and forth. “Hehohuhahah!” the laughter echoed off the walls and suddenly where the not Georgie had been standing now stood the clown. Georgie whimpered and clutched onto his brother more. Bill wrapped a protective arm around Georgie but never let his eyes leave the clown. “Ahh, do you smell that? That fear?!?! It’s so strong from him alone...I wonder how I didn’t find him sooner.” The clown laughed. Bill shook his head and struggled to his feet, without letting go of his brother. He wasn’t going to lose him, not again. Not if he was there to protect him.
“Y-y-y-you leave him al-alone.” He stuttered. “Oh, what are you going to do if I don’t?” The clown grinned, showing Bill and the others his rows and rows of teeth. Billy guided Georgie to stand behind him. “I-I-” “We’ll just have to kill you.” Stan, of all people, said stepping forward. Bill glanced back at his friend. Stan offered Billy his hand. “Together right?” He asked. Bill bit his lip and nodded before shaking Stan’s hand. However, neither let go after shaking hands.
“Kill me? How are you going to do that?” It asked. “H-however we n-n-need too.” Bill said. The clown growled and lurched forward grabbing Bill and yanking him back away from both Stan and Georgie. “BILLY!” Georgie sobbed. “Bill!” The others yelled.
The clown was crouched close to the ground and now he held Bill Denbrough in his hands. Billy struggled to pull the hands away or to even breathe as his airway was more or less being cut off. “Let him go.” Bev demanded, stepping up next to Stan. “No! I'll take him, I'll take ALL of YoU and I'll feast on your flesh as I feed on your fear.... OOOORORRRr you'll just leave us be. I'll take him, only him and then I will have my LONG rest and you will all live to grow and thrive and lead hAPPPPY lives until old age takes you back to the weeds.” The clown continued, rubbing his hand over Bill’s face in all directions. Billy struggled, he pulled at the clown’s wrists and he turned his head from side to side. It was useless. He knew what he had to do. “GO.” He blurted. “Bill-” “No. I’m the one who d-dragged you all into this. I’m so s-s-s-sorry.” Bill sobbed. The clown laughed but readjusted the boy in his arms. Bill took that little opportunity to take a fresh gasp of air. “S-s-sorry” The clown mocked him. Bill gasped for air again. “Leave. Don’t let it trick you. T-t-take Geor-Georgie home. K-keep him safe for me.” Bill continued. “No! Billy, you can’t!” Georgie cried. Eddie stepped forward and knelt next to Georgie wrapping his arms around the tiny boy to keep him from running to Bill. “OH, but he can.” The clown continued. “He’s smart. But ya know Georgie, you could stay too. You could float together.” “Please. Just let him go.” Georgie whispered, ignoring what the clown even said. The clown shook his head and went to say something else when Richie came up and smacked it in the head with a baseball bat he found in the pile of rubbish. It was so random that it took the clown by surprise, the older kids were too shocked to say anything but Georgie just laughed. Pennywise released Bill, shoving him sideways and scrambled back from Richie and the bat, still very confused. Billy coughed and struggled to catch his breath. “BILLY!” Georgie screamed, pulling away from Eddie and running towards his older brother. He reached him and used his hand to push Bill’s hair out of his face. “Are you okay?” He asked. Bill nodded. “Bill! Look out!” Mike called. Bill glanced over his shoulder and noticed a bunch of metal pipes flying through the air towards the two of them. Billy jumped up and tackled his brother rolling with him out of the way. Clutching onto him as tightly as possible. The two Denbrough brothers rolled to a stop. “You alright?” Bill asked. Georgie nodded and just gripped Bill’s shirt with his hand afraid to let him go. Bill knew he didn’t have much time but he allowed himself a moment to squeeze the little boy as tight as possible. He had been right all along. His brother was still alive. He could come home. After they kill the clown. “HEY! LET HIM GO!” Eddie screamed. Bill released his grip on his brother and risked a glance over his shoulder. Pennywise was getting smacked around quite well but at the moment he had Ben stuck, wrapped up in a gauze sort of substance. It was coming out of his mouth and wrapping around Ben, plus from where Bill was it looked like Ben’s hand was inside the clown’s stomach. Billy jumped to his feet, pulling his brother to his feet. “Don’t move.” Billy said, to him. Before he ran towards the clown and Ben, grabbing a chain and swinging it like a lasso smacking the clown and breaking the gauze. The clown screeched and kept changing into the others fears. Georgie stood off to the side, where Bill had told him to stay watching as his older brother and his friends beat up this ever changing monstrosity. Until finally, the clown was cornered. “That’s why you didn’t kill Beverly. Because she wasn’t afraid. None of us are. Now you’re the ones who’s afraid.” Bill said. The clown gurgled and did a backflip into the deep well behind him. He said something Georgie couldn’t hear before he let go and disappeared. “Is e-e-everyone okay?” Bill asked, dropping the metal pipe Stan had handed him. His friends all looked at him, and then around at each other. They were all soaked in grey water, Eddie had black goop all over him, Stan had blood dripping down the sides of his face. “Better now that it’s gone.” Beverly said, running her hands through her short hair. Billy turned to her and hugged her. “I’m gl-glad you’re alright.” He whispered to her. She hugged him back then pushed him away and gestured with her head in the direction of Georgie. The grin that crossed Bill’s face made every single of them realize that the only reason Georgie really was still alive was because Bill had convinced them to find him. That he was still out there somewhere. Bill started crying, happy tears as he remembered his brother was here before he turned and ran back over to Georgie. He wrapped him in yet another hug. Georgie giggled and hugged him back as best he could. “Okay, okay! Don’t squish me!” Georgie said. Billy pulled back and looked him in the eye. “I will squish you as much as I want. Y-you’re alive!” He exclaimed. Georgie just grinned and used his small fingers to wipe away Billy’s tears. “Yep. But can we leave? I don’t think I like the sewers very much.” Bill grinned and ruffled his brothers hair. “S-s-sure thing. But I want you to meet some people first okay?” “Okay!” Georgie exclaimed, back to his bubbly self.

Billy and Georgie stood outside their house, hand in hand “You ready?” Bill asked, squeezing his brothers hand. Georgie shook his head. “No. I’m scared. What if they don’t think it’s me? What if they don’t want me anymore-” “S-s-stop right there.” Bill turned and knelt down in front of George. “They have barely paid any attention to me because they’ve missed you so much. I p-p-p-promise they’ll be h-h-happy you’re h-home. I kno-know I am.” Georgie grinned and took a deep breath. “Okay. I’m ready.” He said. Bill grinned and stood up. Taking his brothers tiny hand one more time before leading him inside. “M-m-mom! D-Dad!” Bill called. “In the kitchen, Bill. What is it?” Zack Denbrough called back. Bill took a deep breath and squeezed Georgie’s hand. “Come on.” Bill told him to wait right inside the hallway, and he went in the kitchen. “D-Dad. Mom. I found Georgie.” He said again. Zack looked up from his paper angrily and Sharon turned away from the sink holding a glass plate. “Where have you been? You’re filthy!” Sharon exclaimed. Both of his parents not so obviously avoided the fact that Bill had brought up his brother.
“Th-that’s not imp-p-p-portant. I f-found him.” “No. We’ve been over this Bill, thousands of times. He’s gone!” Zack yelled jumping to his feet and throwing his paper at the ground. Bill clenched his fists and took a deep breath. “H-he. He’s not g-go-gone! I f-f-fou-” “No! That is enough! You just won’t learn will you?” “Ju-just listen to-to me for a s-s-s-s-second!” Bill demanded, but he never got to say what he was going to say before Zack’s hand smacked across his face. “ZACK!” Sharon gasped as Billy clutched his face, and fell to his knees. “BILLY!” Georgie screamed, and ran in the room not being able to wait any longer. He reached his brother’s side and knelt next him then turned to his parents. Now it was Zack Denbrough’s turn to gasp. The plate slipped from Sharon’s hands and hit the ground, shattering into a million pieces. “Why would you do that?” George demanded. “Geor-Georgie?” Sharon whispered, one hand covering her mouth and the other over her heart. Zack just stared at the younger of the two boys in shock. “Are you okay?” Georgie asked, ignoring his mother and turning back to Bill. Bill just nodded. “Y-yeah. I’m f-fine, that was n-nothing after fighting a clown.” Bill said. Georgie giggled. “A clown? What clown?” Zack demanded. “Just the one that bit my arm off.” Georgie snickered. Bill cracked a small smile. He knew his parents wouldn’t believe them about the clown but they knew the truth and that was what really mattered. “Your arm?” Sharon asked, as she finally noticed her baby only had one arm and a stub. “Oh, sweetheart. What happened to you?” She gasped, stepping around the broken plate and gingerly kneeling in front of her boys. Georgie glanced at Bill. He wasn’t stupid, he knew his mother wouldn’t believe him if he told her the truth. “I fell in the sewer. I ended up in a scary place.” “The b-ba-barrens. Like I t-tr-tried to tell you earlier this s-s-s-s...summer.” Bill stuttered, glaring up at his father. Who was still gaping in utter surprise. “You went down there and searched after we told you not too?” Sharon asked. Bill shrugged his shoulders. “Not like you noticed, anyways.” Bill mumbled.
“Bill.” She warned. Billy just shrugged his shoulders. “It doesn’t matter. We got our Georgie back and that’s m-more important.” Bill stated, grinning as he and his brother hugged, not for the first time but definitely not the last. ‘Thank god for that’ Bill thought as he hugged Georgie tight.
