GW2: Prison
An icy blue eye watched the rat skitter across the concrete floor, its partner followed sightlessly.
They followed it until it squeezed itself through a small crack in the wall, towards freedom.
A sigh escaped his lips as he scratched his chin. The fiery ginger beard was coming in nicely.
It itched. He really wanted a shave. And a bath. With soap.
He wrapped his arms around his knees, hugging them close to his chest. He didn’t belong here. He just wanted to go home.
Home was a heavy, leather-bound book in one hand and a fine brandy in the other. Home was a warm fireplace and plush armchair. Home was laughter and happiness and love.
Home was where his family was.
His real family. His brother, Anselm. His sister, Cersei. His wonderful, wonderful love, Kairi.
Tears slipped down his pale and freckled cheeks, losing sight in the scruffy beard.
Someone behind him yelled profanities and he flinched as something hit the cell bars behind him. Slowly, he turned to find another rat.
Sightless eyes stared back at him, blood and grey matter oozed from a hole in its head.
It would be so easy, he thought. To make a jagged horror from this. It would be so so easy to make an army of horrors from these rats. I could cut my palm with a nail or bite it hard enough to draw the blood. I would just have to…
He tore his eyes away from the creature, staring at a dark stain on the wall in front of him. He rubbed his nose on his knees. The coarse pants that covered them scratched the nose raw.
He didn’t dare try casting magic; it would be a mistake. The guards would surely notice and he’d be punished.
This was already torture. Being away from them was torture.
The tears came faster now. He couldn’t stop them. He didn’t want to.
