Mmmm Dorothy and Alice as cosmic-hopping, dream-travelling girlfriends.
They first meet in the first year of their respective college days, in a dream. They first think the other is a figment of their respective imaginations, going about their days studying something droll to make them better wife material for future husbands, yet they keep meeting in their dreams and talking about strange worlds. One day, a dream turns to that of Oz then Wonderland. They realize they can go into each other's dream worlds, walking through them with relative ease.
Then Alice steps into Dorothy's real world, utterly excited about it and eager to learn more about where her friend lives. After some exploration, they hop into Alice's real world.
Yet after Dorothy goes home, they spend the next few nights dreamless until they eventually meet up again in their dreams, realizing they had utterly worn themselves out by their little foray.
Eventually, realities of life bear down onto the both of them and end up hopping into a strange world neither had been in before, where they end up going on a grand adventure, getting into deep trouble at some points but always finding a way to save each other. They learn how to control their cosmic-hopping, dream-travelling abilities, ultimately growing their love for each other.
Alice is the first one to suggest holding hands (when they world-hop, it's safer that way, you know?) and Dorothy's the one to initiate the first kiss.
