Florence + The Machine’s One of the Greats except it’s those movie style intros where for a few minutes we see what a character’s day to day is like (and how that day to day sucks, specifically) and the character in this case is Dorothea and her music career being stunted because the industry is full of misogyny and patriarchy and the executives would take male mediocrity over literally anything else, and we also see Ingrid being plagued by the same in-game situation of “marry well (i.e. a monied man, in this case the suitor is just as suspicious and concerning) to get your family out of a hard spot”.

Yes, the sequence goes for the whole ~6 minutes of the song. Towards the end (like with the climaxing “arms outstretched, back from the dead” and the choral swells) Dorothea and Ingrid are absolutely done with their days and have a meet ugly and the song finally ends.

Then we spend the rest of the movie watching whatever dynamic they’ll develop developing. A friendship would be cool. A romance would be cool. But I think the coolest thing would be them being associates who hold each other in positive regard but also don’t like each other but also understand each other, to match the fact that yes we have the paralogue and yes they do NOT have any supports with each other (iirc)

By the end they’re both in a better place (in a better place each). Yeah.
