The One Sin
.hack//frägment (Online Boss battle)
.hack//G.U. (Reminiscence and Redemption)
Reputable for its existence as the CC Corp Event Boss that gave Balmung and Orca their reputation title Descendants of Fianna as it was deemed nigh unkillable, it reappeared in frägment as a boss for you and two other players to challenge as a final boss. Following the original series, The One Sin returns in GU in a chain quest starting in Volume Rebirth to trigger it's activation in Reminiscence to give you the Shimmering Scale as merit proof of your success once finally conquered in Redemption.
Have you played .hack//frägment (2005)?

Well, while CC's doing that,
Might as well post as much as my progress has gotten.
I asked an acquaintance of mine who was actually capable of creating a server for another PS2 game for help. He said that he would not be able to help me with the project, but he did give me this bit of advice. (Thanks again for the help, if you see this.)
"... [As] a starting point I suggest to read available information about tcp/ip, ssl, wireshark. Learning a programming language is a must (Java, C or similar) and diving deeper into network programming (see Beej's guide for example) is advisable. Also it's a good idea to study opensource gameserver projects to learn how game protocols are crafted. And all that has to be done before even starting the analysis of an unknown protocol..."
So I at least know my starting points. I've got a year of C under my belt (which isn't much to brag about), and will also be looking into Unix this year, so that will help a lot.
Not only did I get help from my acquaintance though, but I also received help from my friend Slitz who directed me to Team Refraction, a group who supposedly got LAN running for Fragment. Though they may have, they haven't posted on their forum in about a year, and the files have been supposedly lost.
Even so, they at least left some information on their site.

http://teamrefraction.forumotion.com/t1-fragment-project (This one helps with WinDip, it's posted halfway down the page. That's just how to get around the DNAS. Nothing extremely big.)
I would just like to reiterate that this will probably take a long time.

Oh. As I was typing this I realized they have a contact thread. I'll try to message someone to see if they've got any extra info.
Talk to you guys later!
