I am not shading either one, ftr. What I believe is that whatever anyone at spn did unconsciously, or by accident, or in terms of purposeful queer coding, nobody would be able to say “oh yes we meant for that to seem romantic and we were purposefully putting in queer coding to get around corporate censorship.” SPN creatives can’t admit to it even if they wanted to, because of the caps corporate put on Dean.

It is actually a HUGE deal that Cas’s confession got greenlit. That was the big change in the last season. Not because queer coding or implications didn’t exist before, but that was the very first time in the entire run there was a snowball’s chance of hell of getting it openly acknowledged from either side, and the wall opened only for Cas. Not Dean.

Some people should be going at lot harder about corporate.

It’s funny how the destiel lane was so loud about that after 15.20 and there was tons of discourse about corporate slamming down limits, while letting Cas’s confession through was a breakthrough. But now a bunch of people have conveniently forgotten the corporate overlords exist and forgotten the realities of the situation. Where creatives can’t talk openly about it. None of them. They can talk about how great queer readings on the text are and that’s it.

We’ll see if that changes at some point but I’m feeing pretty sure that is where it’s going to live.

The acknowledgement and welcome to fan lenses is the ceiling in terms of validation, and it’s not intended to be an insult or patronizing, nor is it homophobic on their part when they cannot, in fact, offer more than that. They cannot confirm bi Dean. They can only talk in terms of interpretation and fandom lenses.

And it seems odd to me how some people tried to weaponize Bobo’s words against Jensen, like “suck it Jensen!!!” omg seriously?? Because in its essence it is very similar and even Bobo could only go as far as “yay isn’t fan interpretation neat!!” (I’m not saying that they are the same, but when the bare bones of what’s being said are essentially similar, weaponizing Bobo’s words against Jensen’s when they’re sitting in the same general zip code, in essence, is just grudgewanking)

Well. Now I know who asked that question at purcon and kept badgering and arguing and contradicting Jensen being pushy and rude (they're on tumblr, no I won't say the handle here) and I will point out they absolutely do not GAF about the mess they caused including a lot of needless distress to other destiel shippers. They simply have no clue that they did anything wrong at all, despite their up in your face aggression to the actors and how that behavior handed even more ammunition to antis to scream about how awful destiel shippers are (we're all like that!!!) and maybe farther harmed the relationship Jensen and Misha have with the fanbase. Not that it's all their fault. There have been other ones from the destiel lane before this. And those of us online who are speaking in good faith and respect the actors as well as we care about this ship wind up cleaning up their mess, and what they provoked.

This doesn't help the ship or increasing understanding about the ship.

This does not help the shippers.

Jensen and Misha are good beans who are doing their best to navigate this, even if I sometimes have criticism of how they handle it.

Personally I am really tired of con goers who think because they spend a lot of money to attend conventions they get to treat actors however they want and make whatever mess they want to make and they don't care about the ripple effect whatsoever.

But do go on making the fans who are like these into your heroes, keep giving them the engagement and the notes.

After seeing more videos from jibcon, now I'm not just worried about Jared, I'm worried he could get someone else hurt. Someone showed me the video of Jensen and Jared on stage where Jared was hanging heavily on Jensen and it looked off. Jensen tried to cover up and distract and started doing air guitar on his leg. Jared kept tugging on him and then Jensen falls over. Now, Jensen is athletic, strong, and has some stunt training. He knows how to fall. That doesn't meaning nothing can go wrong, and if something went wrong, Jensen could have been injured. ngl, my heart was in my throat for a second. There is also the video of Jared and Jensen walking through the jibcon crowd in the hallway and Jared looks out of control, clinging to Jensen and Jensen is very self evidently trying to keep Jared contained and his expression is very tense. He's just trying to keep Jared from falling or getting even more off the rails.

I'd advise people to take this seriously and not play fandom lane politics or grudgewank and get their heads out of their asses and realize something is amiss. If all people are doing is going UWU J2 LOVE!!! and then attacking everyone with the common sense and brains to be alarmed and see something's wrong, you are not helping Jared whatsoever and you're being terrible.

Are you quite done, Jared stans? Are you done lying? Are you done attacking Misha for things Jensen does as well? Are you done pretending Jensen can't stand Misha, that Misha is a predator, that Jensen doesn't happily participate or instigate as much as Misha, that Jensen isn't having the time of his life, that Jensen can't stand Misha, that Jensen isn't enjoying this with Misha? Jared clearly has serious problems, and his own stans don't care. They care more about their cheap hate obsessions and their insecurities and perpetuating their own illusions, to take cheap shots at Jensen, at Misha, at JenMish, at JenMish fans, at "hellers," at Jensen fans.

This has nothing to do with who we like/dislike, who our faves are. The cockles panel turning into a J2M panel because Jared was very obviously high and wouldn't leave the stage is not my source of concern. My being critical of Jared based on actual things he's said and done doesn't mean I want something bad to happen to him and he very clearly has serious issues, which objectively, are concerning. And he needs help. Also I am not going to just not say something about how Jensen and Misha keep coddling him, at least in public, and while it is admirable they are so kind and such good friends, and ofc they are going to look after their friend, at the same time, it's fair to wonder what's going in private, when all we can see is an uneasy degree of enabling. So I hope that in private they are trying to encourage Jared to get more help.

This is outside of fandom lane concerns (or should be) and just seems like a really not good situation. And I know my posts maybe can't change much, maybe it won't help, but I felt it needed to be said.

I don’t ever want to hear again what saints they are and how everyone else in the fandom is the real problem. They don’t care.

It takes an extra level of nerve when the hate from Jared stans continues to escalate, when they've been regularly yelling "where's Jared" on posts that have nothing to do with Sam and Dean or J2 or spn at all, when they've even targeted Jensen's colleagues on some of his new projects with hate because "where's Jared," when they deny Jensen and Misha's friendship, when they won't stop hating on Misha, when they deny Jensen and Danneel's marriage, when they won't stop hating on Danneel, when they have hated on Jensen himself, being weirdly controlling and aggressively hostile against anything they perceive as a threat to "Dean loves Sam ONLY" or "Jensen only likes Jared," that any J2 fan or Jared fan could whine because JenMish fans think they spotted Misha's back in a photo from the Countdown premiere. Or Jensen stans who can't be bothered about the aggressive hate and denialism and obsession from Jared stans try to shade JenMish and Misha fans for saying things anyone with common sense and a brain could comprehend.

Yes in fact the person whose back is to the camera does look a lot like Misha to me and it's sweet Misha showed up to support his boo and yes it makes sense he didn't want to make a big thing about it, because JenMish is a popular duo and basic common sense would indicate why this wasn't the moment to make a big thing with JenMish. "But the other cast members posted about being there!"

It's time to stop pretending JenMish isn't an unusually popular duo. It's not the same.

This isn't a diss on any of the rest of the cast or other friendships in the cast. It's just plain old realities. J2 and JenMish are the most popular duos from the show.

I don't know how some Jensen stans who have literally complained about both for years, wanting Jensen away from both Jared and Misha, and who wouldn't want J2 or JenMish to be a focus when it's a Jensen project, somehow cannot comprehend why Misha might attend the premiere yet not post about it and not permit any selfies.

JenMish fans are not the problem here and yet some people sure do keep digging a trench trying to pretend we are.
