SUPERNATURAL — 2.19 Folsom Prison Blues
It's been a minute since I went off about how ridiculous entertainment clickbait websites are, here's screenrant yet again to remind me. (They really are among the most annoying of clickbait websites)
There are several things wrong with this post.
1 - "officially" -- according to whom? The opinion of whoever made this post apparently.
2 - "Tracker's best future" - while I'm focused on Jensen, obviously, I respect the work Justin Hartley is doing on this series and I like him and am enjoying the show. That phrase seems like it's being backhanded about Justin. Tracker is his show. He's the lead, and a producer. Yes I think Jensen is great and adds something great to any show he's added to but insinuating he is the only way Tracker has a good future is just...insulting.
3 - whoever wrote this sure is eager to bury any hopes of more Russell Shaw in S4, or a potential spinoff. They can have their opinion but that's not what I saw when I watched the season finale. What I saw was a bunch of seed-planing that smelled strongly of backdoor pilot, almost, or if said spinoff is unlikely, a lot of setup on where they could go with Russell in S4. It was an interesting situation Russell is caught in (which he did to protect his brother) and is begging for follow up.
It was the opposite of shelving Russell Shaw. Even if he stays recurring and no one greenlit a spinoff. I wouldn't rule out Jensen doing more eps for season in S4, though. Where do people get these ideas?

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the beauty of diversity above and below the surface. The ocean is full of vibrant life in every color imaginable. It reminds us that nature thrives when everyone has space to belong.
Environmental advocacy and the LGBTQ+ rights movement share a common purpose: protecting vulnerable communities, caring for the spaces we all call home, and creating a world where we all can flourish. Our world is brightest when people can live authentically, love freely, and be embraced for who they are. From rainbow reefs to shimmering tides, diversity makes our blue planet stronger, healthier, and more inspiring.
Here’s to protecting our ocean, uplifting every voice, and honoring the colorful communities that make this world so wonderful.
Sam stans really are so petty and so threatened they can't stand for Dean to have anything outside Sam, not even Miracle the dog. While Dean was traumatized after getting ripped apart by hellhounds at the end of S3, and displayed some avoidance of dogs for a while, that doesn't mean he actually hates regular dogs. The episode Dog Dean Afternoon exists that showed Dean bonding with a german shepherd, The Colonel. While it's not among my favorite eps, there maybe are layers there beyond "haha funny ep about Dean and dogs"--an intention to show that his trauma about hellhounds doesn't drown out his inherent liking of dogs.
Claiming that Dean "hates dogs" has no solid basis in the text, only that the hellhounds would make him understandably wary but because dogs reminding him of hellhounds, not because he ever hated dogs or hates dogs.
None of this steals from Sam loving dogs. Sam loves dogs. Good for Sam! What does that have to do with Dean having to hate them. Nothing.
Accusing the text of making Dean some sort of stereotype of an American man by letting him like dogs and giving him a dog in 15.20 sure is a strange take given how many people in the US and globally absolutely love dogs. Or accusing Dean of acting like a 14-year-old if he likes dogs. If Sam loves dogs, under their argument, then I guess Sam too is a stereotype of an American man and acting like a young teen too. Oops?
Before Sam stans accuse Dean fans of not knowing the spn canon, perhaps they should pay more attention to the text and to Dean themselves. Also playing the "real Dean fans" card to say we should dislike that Dean had Miracle to comfort him--oh they need to sit down they don't even like Dean, they don't appreciate him, they only use him to make him be only about Sam or to complain that he stole all of Sam's cookies.
I disliked 15.20 a lot and still dislike it a lot but I'm glad Dean had Miracle. He needed that dog. Miracle was the only bright spot in 15.20.
Listened to the new SPN Then and Now to hear Misha speak, here's a few quotes I pulled out of it.
About Sera Gamble firing him in S7 and the network president telling SPN to bring him back:
“Season 7 is not my favorite because they killed me and I was told I wasn’t coming back at the beginning of the season. That colors my affinity for that particular era in the series. “ “They tried to kill me and then the network president had said ‘you gotta bring that guy back’”
About the Cas spinoff:
“I had an idea for a spinoff when I was toying with the idea of a spinoff back in the day and didn’t end up pursuing it. It would have been something like that. Cas is a totally powerless angel who is simply able to tap into the knowledge and veteran experience and then shepherd along a little cabal of young hunters but not walking around with the ability to teleport…when we were wrapping season 15 I think we were all just ready to be done and I was having conversations with Mark Pedowitz at that point. Or I should say not conversations but Mark Pedowitz was tapping me on the shoulder saying [imitates Mark Pedowitz] ‘so what to you think about a spinoff, you want to talk about a spinoff?’ And I did not. I wanted to do something else. It would have been 12 years at that point. For the same reason that we ended the show, I didn’t want to do a spinoff.”
got to go.
aren’t you the president?

hey, buddy.
As the usual suspects are again trying to gaslight the internet to deny the canonical fact that Cas is very important to Dean and that Dean and Cas are very close, and keep insisting Sam is the only person who lives in Dean's heart, and keep cynically denying Dean his feelings, please enjoy this assemblage of quotes from Jensen Ackles.
This is not about ships. Not today. Nor is the closeness Dean and Cas have up for debate--whatever its nature Dean and Cas are very close.
“And in my mind, I was sitting there thinking that…you know, it was like this flashback—you know they say that when you’re about to die your life flashes before you. In my mind, I was flashing back to Lazarus Rising and seeing him walk through the barn with the sparks flying and all of the sudden all of these clips in my mind of Castiel and walking into the lake, and all of these things that are ingrained in my memory and seeing this now character have to say goodbye” —Jensen Ackles, SPN Ohio 2024
“I forgot to be Dean because I was all of a sudden transported into Jensen the audience member watching this brilliant performance from a brilliant actor and somebody who I care deeply about, not just the person playing it, the character as well.” —Jensen Ackles about filming Cas’s goodbye scene in 15.18, AHBL 12, March 10, 2024
“…in that moment when Cas was taken away and Dean was sitting there on the floor and realized that he—he had not only lost a brother-in-arms but had also lost one of his closest—the closest people to him. And—and I—you know I’ve said that when you find your people it doesn’t matter who or what or where or why or when they are, you find your people. And they found each other.” —Jensen Ackles, Purcon 8, May 26, 2024
“…I lost Cas but also because I didn’t say anything, I didn’t give him anything. And what I had in my head was I should have said ‘I love you, too’ and hugged him….what was in front of me? Was a family member and someone that was a brother in arms and someone that Dean truly loved, much like Sam. And so losing—I mean essentially he lost his brother, in that moment.” —Jensen Ackles, SPN Vancouver, 2022, on what was going through Dean’s mind after Cas was taken by The Empty
“I think it would have been a huge embrace.” —Jensen Ackles, SPN Dencver, Oct 2021, on what would have happened if Cas had been there when Dean opened the door in 15.19
“There is an underlying bond, there is a friendship there that supercedes whatever troubles are happening, they’re always going to look out for one another and have each other’s back.” —Jensen Ackles, JibCon 2013, in response to a question about the conflict between Dean and Cas at the end of S8
“At the end of last season and the beginning of this season we do see that Dean has just like given up, so to speak. So the return of Cas has ignited that fire again...Dean’s a little less questioning and more accepting of ‘I don’t care how it happened, we got our buddy back.’”
—Jensen Ackles, Collider, Nov 16, 2017
“I think the obvious answer is Cas. It’s not a surprise that Dean and Cas have a friendship that’s obviously unique.” —Jensen Ackles, SPN Vancouver, 2012, on which character do you empathize with more than the character you play
“Dean’s just gobsmacked…he’s probably elated to have his friend back and somebody who he knows he can count on…personally from an actor’s standpoint, I’m just glad to ahve the gang back to together, so to speak…there’s an excitement there because I think he’d lost a lot of hope when Cas went away. That was a really big blow, I think, to his motivation in this fight”—Jensen Ackles, Zap2It, February 10, 2012, on Castiel’s return in Season 7
“It’s a big loss…not just for the storyline and the show and the characters but also for carrying the weight of the show. Misha was family…he’s still family.” —Jensen Ackles, eonline, about the lack of Cas/Misha in season 7
“I’ve been playing Dean so long I feel like I have a pretty good handle on how he would react to a situation—his relationship with Cas was very deep, there was a deep friendship there, and I discussed it with Guy Bee, and said if he ever comes back, he’s gonna need the trench coat. And there was something like, almost a closure, it was just folding it up, like a flag…I wanted to take care of it, it belonged to somebody who meant a lot to Dean.” —Jensen Ackles, SPN Nashville 2012, about the decision for Dean to keep Cas’s trenchcoat

This is Jensen stans for you. They always have this opinion about Misha being the one using Jensen and Jensen making some kind of charity for him
That’s a shitty viewpoint. Jensen isn’t going to put his reputation out there just to “sponsor” someone as a favor. Especially if he’s getting Chaos Machine involved. I get they want to clap back, but no need to do it at Misha’s expense.
That "no harm to Misha" tweet made me laugh out loud.
That account was putting a heller in their place who said Misha saved Jensen’s career. Kinda think that’s relevant here. and hasn’t endverse_dean, as I understand it, stood up for Misha more than once?
Jensen is actually fine with destiel fans. I’ve had fantastic destiel centric experiences with him. What he doesn’t like is disrespectful people who go up to the mic to argue with him and Misha and try to create a fight between the two of them. He also doesn’t like having his foot stomped for funsies, but what do I know.

Agreed.

destiel Twitter: “threatening physical harm to Jensen is fine. Also Dean is a homophobe if he doesn’t do what I want”. But people will still tell you blanket and their friends haven’t crossed a line and are just poor, innocent uwus
I get so sick of those types of fans. They exist across the entire fandom, from all sides. They think things like that don’t have consequences.
“Oh, they’re just kidding”, “they don’t mean it”, “it’s just a joke”, until some crazy fucker decides it’s deserved and they’re not joking. Then what?
The additional receipt on violent ideation aimed at Jensen just for not being a shipper and just for having his own perspective on his own character he played for 15 seasons is bad enough but that other tweet in this receipt set sure is also putting flames on the side of my face.
One -- Jensen is a human being and a good bean and there is nothing enlightened about dismissing threats of harassment, assault, blackmail, even death threats from shippers who think they can force Jensen to agree with them about Dean, who degrade him and say he has no right to pov on the character he played.
Destiel shippers who are Jensen fans exist and we have every right to be furious.
The only people who think Jensen could not possibly ever be affected by all this hate aimed at him must think he's an actual robot with zero feelings who exists only to parrot what they want to hear from him about a ship.
Two -- calling Dean homophobic just for not being in love with his best friend back, and just for not being bi, is utterly degrading rhetoric, and it fits with what I vented about earlier this week, about hellers who talk about Dean as worthless unless he's Castiel's boyfriend. Who say he might as well have died on the rebar if he won't fall in love with Cas back. That is an absolutely infuriating way to treat Dean. Infuriating.
This is what I've been getting at--people try to pass this stuff off as jokes, but it's degrading and keeps feeding the hatred.
