I'm just thinking about why dots and boxes isn't seen as a bigger deal.
Like, why is chess such a massive ordeal and seen as a great indicator of someone's intelligence but dots and boxes isn't? The game is so much easier to learn and takes so much less time to play than chess and isn't nearly as expensive to play, you just need a piece of paper and a pen (preferably two pens but it's perfectly playable with one).
Why are there not international divisions and leagues across the world? Why is it that this game that everyone can play is not played by everyone? It's a great way to learn strategy and just keeps getting more advanced the deeper you get into it.
y’all what the fuck
where the fuck is the dots and boxes community on this goddamn website guys please hit me up if you are hyperfixated on dots and boxes guys please
I’m sure almost all variants of the major game types have been proposed but...I’ll propose one anyways.
Variation on Dots and Boxes. Rectangle grid of dots of arbitrary size NxM. Arbitrary number of players. Players claim areas by completing a polygon (of any shape). Turns rotate around the players (ie normal play).
Each turn the current player draws a straight line in an unclaimed area which connects two dots (lines can be diagonal).
The game ends when the entire grid-space is claimed.
The winner is the player with the least number of claimed areas.

Back and forth. Stories and jokes. Details and thoughts. Insight and perspective. Honesty and vulnerability.
Woah now. Not too sure where you came from, but woah. Thank you. Thanks for a gentle reminder to enjoy life, and to allow The Lord to be apart of everything; the little things and even the things that hurt. You let Him use you as a tool today to touch my heart, and I'm very thankful for that. Your faith in Him and your consistency with Him is admirable. Why don't you draw up a chair and stick around for a while? I wouldn't mind that at all.

Squares II
Classic dots and boxes game. There are three levels of game to play, each with its own high score table. Choose either to play the Best Of 3 Frames, Best Of 5 or Best Of 9 on the first screen. On the next screen you will see a grid of dots, 6 x 6. To start move your mouse pointer over the grid and you will find that yellow lines appear between the dots. Holding your mouse pointer over a line you wish to make and then clicking on it with the left button, will create that line. You must then click the OK button at the bottom of the grid to allow the computer to have its go. When you are able to add a fourth line and complete a square, your yellow smiley icon will automatically appear in the square and your score will increase by one. When the computer has a go, its line will appear in red and the ‘Your Go’ sign will show when it has finished its go. When you add a fourth line and complete a square, this may make another 3 line square nearby. You may click on the fourth line here to make another square in the same go. This may make another square a three liner too, so carry on until you can complete no more squares, all in the same go. In this case your final go before you click the OK button must be to add a line somewhere else on the grid, even if it means that you have just made a three line square which the computer can complete.
