I think everyone collectively agrees that under his mask are scars and burns, so it'd only make sense if the half of his face that's fully covered has the most burns , meaning there might've been a chance that he fucked smth up with his eye too in the process.
Now see this is only a concept / hc bc we get a closeup of his eyes in the manga and they're very much fine sooo...
