Double Date Dinner
Eighteen, nineteen, twenty...
Ada thought to herself as she folded in all the melted chocolate into the batter while the crock pot slowly bubbled behind her. Off to the side, Leon was squeezing in some lemon juice into the condiments in preparation for their rather exquisite seafood dinner.
Usually dinners for the Kennedy couple were fuss free but tonight, it was the first time they actually had guests over since moving into their matrimonial home. Thanks to the federal holiday weekend, Hunnigan and Harper had days off and the former suggested a small gathering, a double date of sorts.
It was a welcome change from being out in the hectic battlefield, being swarmed by undead.
Carefully pouring the chocolatey goodness into the piping bag, she squeezed the mixture into four buttered ramekins where they would remain untouched until the main courses was served. Only then would she pop them into the oven to achieve the goodness of molten lava cake.
A quick glance at the clock showed there was still time to spare. Their pets, having had their fill of cat food, lounged around in the living room. Their gazes remained on the kitchen, following Ada as she busied herself by cleaning up the counter. They had learned to stay out of the kitchen when their adoptive parents were there but the scent of delicious food always attracted their attention.
"Are you ready, handsome?" She asked out of politeness.
