Double Holiday (2019)
Happy International Women's Day to all my fellow Yonvers shippers who identify as female or female-adjacent!
(and to those who don't)
Happy Anniversary of Captain Marvel Premier!
Rebecca Hoffman (Carly Pope) is a career-minded real estate project manager whose plans for celebrating Hanukkah with her family don’t go as expected when a long-awaited opportunity to be promoted at work has suddenly come up. After offering to help the company CEO Jane Bennett (Barbara Eve Harris) with securing an important new client, Rebecca is instead tasked with planning the company’s Christmas party. Making matters worse, she is paired up with her insufferable office mate, Chris Coulter (Kristoffer Polaha), who is also her main competition for the promotion. Despite their very different work styles, Rebecca realizes they must find a way to work together in order to make the holiday party a success, especially because that is where their potential new client will make his decision. Despite Rebecca’s desire to keep her personal life separate from work, Chris stops by her apartment with a question about the party, only to find Rebecca struggling to make the traditional holiday latkes, just minutes before her entire family is showing up for the first night of Hanukkah. Much to her surprise, Chris is quite adept in the kitchen and helps get the latkes done, just as the family arrives. Although appreciative of his help, Rebecca is eager for Chris to leave, but her family has other ideas and insists he stay for their Hanukkah celebration. Much to Rebecca’s chagrin, Chris quickly endears himself to her family and accepts their invitation to participate in even more Hanukkah family gatherings during the week, enjoying just how uncomfortable it makes Rebecca. As Rebecca and Chris spend more time together, shopping for Christmas decorations by day and observing Hanukkah at night, she begins to see another side of him she never anticipated, including his passion for serving as a mentor. Although feelings slowly develop between the two as they begin to learn more about their respective holidays and the importance of family, their ongoing competition over the promotion, along with a potential new beau for Rebecca, threatens to undermine it all, until Chris makes a grand gesture at the Christmas party that just may win her heart.
