It was 15 years ago today: the first recording of Steve Reich's Pulitzer Prize–winning Double Sextet, performed by eighth blackbird, was released on Nonesuch, along with his 2x5, performed by Bang on a Can.
The BBC said: "Beautifully poised throughout, Double Sextet stands as arguably one of Reich’s finest works." The Philadelphia Inquirer named it "among the finest pieces of our time." And Gramophone called 2x5 "Reich’s smartest, most sonically nourishing recording for years."

Got minimal this weekend at the Barbican's Steve Reich festival. I particularly enjoyed seeing this piece, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Double Sextet, performed live.
