I got my SAG card 8 years ago on an incredibly fun web series - it was one of the most exciting moments in my twenties, getting to join this historic institution. over the years, I’ve had my frustrations with the union (some of which I haven’t been quiet about!), but that’s because I feel so passionately about the guild working for its members. today, I am so proud of the union for working for us — while I do work primarily in podcasts (and there’s still LOTS of work to be done in the contracts there), I got my start in streaming and we all know that TV/film is where the changes have to begin. we are asking for extremely reasonable things - just as the WGA is - and are being stonewalled by greedy multi millionaires without a creative bone between them. like all labor action, this is going to be hard and might get a lot worse before it gets better but it is necessary, righteous, and long overdue.

If I have a Kwende, Pride of Femeref in my graveyard and hit someone with Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir's first strike, reanimating Kwende, will Jabari deal damage again this combat?

Yes, he will.

When there are two combat damage steps in combat because of a creature with first strike or double strike attacking or blocking, they act as completely separate steps with triggers resolving and players able to cast spells and activate abilities between them.

In the second combat damage step, the only creatures to assign and deal combat damage are creatures with double strike and creatures that either didn't already assign combat damage in the first combat damage step.

Since Sidar has double strike at that time, he will assign and deal combat damage just fine in that second combat damage step.

If I use deflecting palm to prevent the damage from a creature with double strike, does the palm only prevent the first strike damage or all of it?

Deflecting Palm only prevents damage “the next time” the chosen source would deal damage. For a creature with double strike, this means that it will only prevent one of the two instances of combat damage.

Enrage triggers twice off of double-strike, right? I don't think they covered that in the video so I wanted to double-check

Yes, if it survives the first combat damage step.

For example, if Ripjaw Raptor blocks a 2/2 creature with double strike, Ripjaw Raptor’s Enrage ability will trigger both when it’s deal 2 damage in the first combat damage step and again when it’s dealt 2 damage in the second combat damage step.

If I give Rafiq of the Many lifelink, and enchant it with Sunbond, how does that interact?

When Rafiq attacks alone, he’ll gain +1/+1 and double strike. Assuming he gets to deal combat damage in both combat steps, he’ll deal 4 damage in the first combat step. This causes you to gain 4 life and causes Sunbond to trigger. Sunbond’s trigger puts four +1/+1 counters on Rafiq when it resolves. In the second combat damage step, Rafiq will deal 8 damage. This gains you 8 life and puts 8 more +1/+1 counters on Rafiq. Rafiq is now 16/16.
