Double strike does get around your immunity to curses, by the way
What’s truly baffling is seeing certain people’s response to the striking writers & actors, saying stuff like “Hollywood hasn’t produced anything watchable in years”.
Who do you think greenlit the 40,000th Transformers movie? The same executives who crunched down writers rooms, denied professionals a living wage, and pruned every tree at Universal during a massive heatwave where they knew strikers would bear the brunt of the sun.
Letting an executive gaslight you into thinking that working writers and actors are the issue here (especially when they’ve got a lot more at stake & in common with you than Bob Iger super yacht ever will) is just silly.
The way the major studios treat their workers is sooo shit: this is a long time coming. The top five conglomerate I'm at didn't even try to meet inflation with our annual raises this year-- that's right, I'm making less than I did last year. We do not get bonuses, ever. Meanwhile execs are raking in $$$ that the workers and creatives are generating, giving themselves bonuses, and planning to starve folks out. Mgmt says we should be 'thankful' to be exploited. I'm just so tired. I kind of hope smaller unions also join the momentum and strike so we can be compensated fairly.
The crazy thing is I've been job hunting and now I have no idea what comes next.
let's fucking go
I got my SAG card 8 years ago on an incredibly fun web series - it was one of the most exciting moments in my twenties, getting to join this historic institution. over the years, I’ve had my frustrations with the union (some of which I haven’t been quiet about!), but that’s because I feel so passionately about the guild working for its members. today, I am so proud of the union for working for us — while I do work primarily in podcasts (and there’s still LOTS of work to be done in the contracts there), I got my start in streaming and we all know that TV/film is where the changes have to begin. we are asking for extremely reasonable things - just as the WGA is - and are being stonewalled by greedy multi millionaires without a creative bone between them. like all labor action, this is going to be hard and might get a lot worse before it gets better but it is necessary, righteous, and long overdue.
union strong ✊✊✊
one of the funniest things about me is that i was a popular kid in hs. another one of the funniest things about me is that i was a jock too.
If I use deflecting palm to prevent the damage from a creature with double strike, does the palm only prevent the first strike damage or all of it?
Deflecting Palm only prevents damage “the next time” the chosen source would deal damage. For a creature with double strike, this means that it will only prevent one of the two instances of combat damage.
